Tower Of Ascension Recommended Level

So I've been running ToA recently. Based on the supposedly accurate information that it's designed to be completed at around level 75 (since Champion's Set is level 75), I would assume that, for example, Floor 4 should be done between levels 55 and 60. However, it seems absurdly difficult for its level - I just completed Floor 4 at level 59 (barely - should have brought more potions rip), and Guardian has 150k health, which is absurdly large for a boss of this difficulty (pretty sure this is slightly above Boss Altar stats right here). Do I have the level range right, or should I actually be paying attention to the levels listed on the signs outside each floor?

 

Personally, I skip ToA until I'm ready to do the whole thing, as it forces me to go to Lusuco a lot, and the level balancing is kinda wonky. I honestly don't know if the levels are even balanced to what they are everywhere else.

 

I've always seen it as a spike in difficulty rather than progression between floor 3 and 4. Floors 1-3 are easily manageable and don't feature any real threats, but once you hit floor 4 the difficulty actually sets in (to an extent). I see it as levels 40-60 you should do floors 1-3, then wait till completing Reincarnation before returning back to ToA and soloing the rest of it (as Bob's weapons make it a hell of a lot easier).

P.S I'm pretty sure ToA got buffed as well. I know at the very least that Death did, as before the update he fired at a slower rate and only had 250k hp, whereas now he fires at a faster rate and has 350k hp. If all of ToA got buffed, it could make the recommended level for solo go higher.

 

Huh, I found Floor 3 more difficult than Floor 4 (despite Witch Doctor's low hp versus Guardian). Actually I'd say the most difficult part so far, including the bosses, was that one stage in Floor 3 with spiders that cast a really powerful Heavy Charge. I did Floors 3 and 4 consecutively, and that was easily the hardest part of the run.

I don't think I've ever actually used Bob's weapons - my previous Corrupted Treasure is still sitting in my bank actually.

350k would definitely be pretty high for level 75, that's approaching double of Bob's Reincarnation if I remember correctly.

 

Anything more known about why it's so difficult for its level range? I'm still unable to beat Death at level 75 despite a pretty good build.

Wow... every time I say this, I do exactly what I said was annoyingly difficult on the literal next try. Same thing has happened before...

Even then, it's really difficult to do at level 75 - probably harder than most boss altars. I get the feeling it hasn't actually been intended for level 75 for quite a while, although the Champion's Set is still level 75)

The rewards are for level 75, but your level should be MUCH higher. Maybe the rewards should be buffed to reflect that.

 

Yeah ToA at level 75 feels a lot harder than, for example, Hive at level 100.

 

Are they encouraging players to abuse stat pots and use crafted armors?

 

The difference between Tower at 75 and Hive at 100 is that when you're doing Hive you probably have a build and and you definitely know what you're doing.

 

Eh... I'd definitely say I have a build. Maybe not a perfectly optimized build, but I definitely went out of my way to get good items that synergize well. I posted my build in one of the previous posts.

 

i did toa at 70, just ask a level 100 friend (who has completed it) to help you along, if you do enough damage to a mob you'll both get a drop when it dies

 

That's... not what I'm concerned about at all.

 

I personally do sections 1-3 between 40-60 then for sections 4-6 at 60-75 and then finally I do floor 7 at level 75-85. I'll admit that I think that ToA aims a bit at the wrong level for its final reward gear, I would personally say that its best aimed at level 80 concerning its level of difficulty but that might just be me.

I can kill death while beast is present, but I can't kill him while guardian and/or witch doctor is present.

Just liked to update that I just completely soloed ToA at level 75 as a warrior. It was very easy (literally only used a hp pot once for the whole run, being at Death because lifesteal refused to proc for a substantial amount of time).
Then again, it is warrior after all, so I'm a tanky boy.

Idk why I decided to powder nightmare with t6s when t4s would've been fine (used bob's mythic as a secondary for things nightmare couldn't penetrate decently).
Tbh CDS is easy. Main issue for people to gather that stuff would be killing Nii Guardians.

 

Eh, even if you can't find Nii Guardians you can buy the requisite runes off the market for pretty much the rewards for any random at-level quest.

CDS is kind of annoying because the skeletons with shields are pretty tanky, but it's not like the original was much of a problem
