    One star means you got a good roll on that ID. Two stars means you got a great roll. Three stars means you got a perfect roll.

    Identifications are calculated using a base value, and a roll. For example, the base value of each skill points bonus on the item in your screenshot is (probably) 5. The roll is randomized when you bring an item to the Item Identifier - a random value between 0.30 and 1.30, independently for every single identification that an item can have. A particular item's stats are just the roll multiplied by the base value. Consider, for example, Vaward has a base of 5 for each skill points bonus (scroll to the bottom of the page), so the minimum possible value is 0.30*5 = 2 (rounded), and the maximum possible value is 1.30*5 = 7 (rounded).

    If a particular identification has a roll between 1.00 and 1.24, the identification will display one star next to it. Likewise, two stars is a roll between 1.25 and 1.29, and 3 stars is a perfect 1.30 roll.

    Note that this means the range of values for an identification is not always evenly distributed. For example, an item like Capricorn has a ~45% chance of having 1/4 mana regen, a ~50% chance of having 2/4 mana regen, and a ~6% chance of having 3/4 mana regen (again, you can see the details at the bottom of that page). This is what makes a 3/4 mana regen Capricorn so much more expensive on the market than a 2/4 or 1/4 mana regen (assuming similar values in other identifications, of course).

    @Bramblesthatcat did I miss anything?

    Some stats with very low base values can have ** and still be a perfect roll like mana or attack tier.
    rip my 3/4 3/4 19SP Capricorn after the nerf though.

    *Insert discussion on the advantages of base 3 over base 2* (e.g. Consider how much more common a 4/4 Third Eye is compared to a 3/4 Capricorn)
