Are You Excited For 1.14?

Hello! I am excited for 1.14!

Besides the current bugs in the current snapshot, are you excited for the 1.14 release, because I AM!

Yes, but I think the crossbow is only going to be good early game

 

So basically you're saying that the crossbow is the only thing that's good?

 

no the new structures and mobs are awesome but I think if you would do survival and get to the end game early the crossbow will get forgettable as a weapon

 

What I'm looking forward to the most are the new decoration blocks, especially the campfire. At least in my mind, those new blocks could make for some pretty build details (actual smoking chimneys, real barrels etc.). The villages look way better than before- though I'd make an exception for the taiga village model and it's buildings, those just look a bit too weird.

Cats sitting on the beds while you sleep is the best Minecraft idea I never knew I was waiting for- and their new skins are adorable!
And the Lily of the Valley is very pretty, Minecraft needs more flora imo.

1.14 looks great. Can't wait for it to be implemented!

 

Also, there is ONE village that hasn't been added yet.
That village is.....

I haven't played any of 1.14 yet. Is the crossbow really that bad? Is it just overshadowed by the trident and bow?

 

it can't have power or infinity, so power one bow does more damage than a raw crossbow. the positive thing is quickcharge that a good enchantment

The way I see it, crossbows are better against grouped up mobs while bows are better for single target damage. Bows have access to raw damage and uptime enchantments (power, flame, infinity) but have the downside of a high draw time and the fact that you can’t predraw or move quickly while drawing, which severely hampers mobility.

Crossbows, on the other hand, have enchantments pertaining to firing more shots and hitting multiple mobs at once (quickdraw, multishot, piercing), and can fire fireworks for an aoe attack. In addition, the ability to draw behind cover and hold a charge while retaining mobility makes it much easier to dodge large amounts of projectiles while drawing behind cover, as well as quickdraw letting you charge the crossbow faster for more overall uptime. This means in a firefight with, say, 4 or five skeletons, it’s much easier to dodge projectiles while still firing back

 

Unfortunately, the jungle and swamp villages won't get added. Mojang has confirmed that they will not make them, but if you breed villagers in jungles/swamps, you'll get unique villager skins for them, the ones you've seen in the trailer.
