Well, I caused a mess by acting immaturely. I guess I'll try to clean it up by responding maturely, though the damage has likely already been done.

First, for the future, if I ever write in all caps, please assume it's 99.99% sarcastic. Still, the sentence was very offensive even with that context. So please disregard these first few sentences.

The actual reason I wouldn't like it is because, well, popularity would be great for the game, but in my opinion, bad for the community. By being a bigger server, way more script kiddies, spambots, and actually annoying problems would appear. While the staff would likely take care of them, a bigger problem would be the way larger number of toxic people joining:

Right now, wynn's forums are mostly civil thanks to wynn appealing to a small audience that's mostly mature (due to rpgs tending to be more long-term games, and thus appealing mostly to older, more mature players) but the big audience getting to know of wynn would result in the server exploding, and thus, more toxic people join.
And, as we know from some past people I won't name since they probably have changed, when someone who is actually toxic joins, it's a big problem: they post lost of threads, ignore others and assume they are right (Those conditions all fit me, though, so take my opinion with a grain of salt).

And I can't help but feel with an audience that large the staff and ct would be overworked to death: too many posts to check for breaking rules, too many expectations to fulfill, too many bug reports to solve, too many applications, etc. Though I guess the ct would expand faster, too.

So yes, I was certanly ignorant and toxic, though I still feel that wynn getting too big too fast would result in big problems for the community. Please feel free to ignore this post and remove the context, because even with it, my post was still horrible.
So yes, I admit I was wrong. Now let's not let this spiral out of control and let's keep the rest of this thread civil.

(Oh, and I thought about not posting this for a while because I felt it would still make it worse, so take this to a private message if you feel I was insincere/still have beef with me)

just because they show there demographics and it says 18-20something doesnt mean thats their age, almost every kid will put their age as 18 so they can do whatever they want online
pewdiepie bleeps out curse words, hes basically a reaction channel (rarely gaming) with family friendly memes that his fanbase thinks are funny, he fakes a laugh about it and then everyone thinks its funny, he doesnt make any more edgy content ; I dont know if this is just because he wants even more money or doesnt want the majority of his fanbase to stop watching

I dont hate pewdiepie I watch his daily uploads (but I usually click off because its uninteresting/unfunny) and I think that almost every fanbase on youtube has a majority of kids, youtube is very accessible and tv is declining and kids are more likely to jump on a bandwagon without thinking which would be subscribing to pewdiepie

Even if not Pewds, Wynncraft needs yotubers, I’ve been trying to encourage them for a while to possibly sponsor some to bring more players to the server, but they don’t seem to want it for some reason

It's because the same thing happened to other Youtubers who tried this server like InTheLittleWood and Sjin. They aren't committed to the long-term.

Why do people always assume newcomers are toxic and will ruin the game. Like c'mon man not everyone is like that, do you guys have some kind of Vietnam flashbacks?
Somehow the people who say the newcomers will be toxic act like someone who's toxic.

Wynn community has two outlooks on new players: the elitist people hate new players and consider them an annoyance, but others like me feel responsible to teach them about the server and help out newer adventurers

I haven't seen the comments of the average youtuber, but Detlas WC1 is already pretty bad at some times... But sometimes it's pretty good.

    Ok, now my opinion...

I'm not sure a large influx of players from outside youtubers like Pewdiepie would be a very good idea. If many, many more players were to join, the devs would most likely get a lot more pressure on releasing updates and refining them. Of course, it does have some benefits, such as the good people, which there a lot of. I'm not sure how many developers watch youtubers, but increasing the amount of people *could* equal more devs, mods, and overall more people to help on the game.

Another part of the problem with such a large influx of players is the lag problems. We already had lots of lag problems when 1.18 came out, but if we had someone with tens of millions of subscribers and millions of viewers advertise a small server that usually gets less than 1k players at a time, the server would explode. Of course, the simple way to combat this is higher quality and quantity servers. Although, better and more servers costs money too, but more people also equals more money. Although, not all players are going to spend their money on some bombs to make the game more pleasurable when it already is. (Except for gathering professions, they are really grindy.)

P.S. I don't know the server's actual income, so I'm not sure if they'd be able to keep a large amount of servers up.

Now, seeing the theme for "new players = more toxic", I'll explain that too.
It's impossible to prevent toxicity and salty players from infesting the server. We've generally been lucky with the people on this server being actually passionate about Wynn and not screaming "THIS GAME SUX" in Deltas WC1 chat. (I've seen that a lot though. In the forums and in Detlas.) All popularity brings corruption, and with popularity it's impossible to prevent the annoying players and toxicity. (It's also more work for the mods!) Also, do remember we have a /ignore command, and by using so, we can easily block out the toxic 9 and 12 year olds. I've also heard that it's more the mid-teens that are the toxic and annoying memelords who overuse outdated and crusty memes, and the 12-13 year olds are the nice ones. I have definitely seen some toxic 12-13 year olds, but I've seen way more annoying and toxic 14-15 year olds than the 12s.

That's all I have for now. I hope you liked this, I probably have more stuff to say that I just can't find.

I agree. The only time they ever show up is at events or parties. They never do anything except ban the occasional duper or fly hacker!

A bunch of random players would give them the chance to truly show they have the power to maintain balance in this community! (Plus they'd get more bans towards their ban count if multiple hackers join, too! :saltedhappy:)

Mods please don't ban, it's a joke, you actually do your job well...
