Guide Everything You Have To Know About The Recent Wynntils Bans

Hello everyone,

At first i was not going to make this post, but seeing all these complaints about false bans for using Wynntils, i feel obligated to. I'll explain what has been happening, why people have been getting banned for using it and what you can do if you are one of the people who got banned for using it.

Disclaimer: Before i start explaining the situation, please be aware that Wynncraft does not endorse the usage of mods, as it was made to be played without. This does not mean all mods are bannable, but it is always recommended to play without to avoid situations like these in the future.

What has been happening?
For those who are not aware, recently some people have been getting banned for using the "Wynntils" mod. This has raised questions from all around the community on whether the mod is allowed or not, because most people think it is, and well, most people are right. The mod itself is not bannable, as it does not break any rules regarding mod usage.

Then why are people getting banned for using it? And how do I avoid getting banned for using it?
There is 2 reason why, one easy to avoid and one not so much. First of all, using the latest version of Wynntils should decrease your chances of getting banned. This is because there is a dupe bug that used to exist in an older version of the modpack, making it bannable. Again if you are on the latest version this should not happen.

The second reason is, well, the anti-cheat system. Wynncraft's anti-cheat system for some reason acts on users with the Wynntils modpack which results in false bans. Sadly there is nothing that a normal player can do about it other than waiting for a fix, if one ever comes.

Because of this, the best way to avoid getting banned for using Wynntils is to simply not use the modpack until the issue gets addressed and resolved.

I have been banned for the usage of Wynntils, what do I do?

Make sure to explain the situation and be honest. Then it is a matter of waiting for the response of a moderator, which can take a while depending on how busy they are (remember that moderators are human too).

I just wonder what kind of feature could possibly allow duping - it should be a pretty big red flag that one client-side feature messes with server-side features

My question is since when do we have anti-cheat
And what the fuck we got god knows how many moderators for if an anti-cheat does the job?

 

because there's probably more to being a mod than just banning hackers (spamming, spamming (chat filters, glitch abuse, undoing false bans, vanilla items, etc etc)

 

How long does it take for them to unban this false ban ?

 

It was a beta version of their feature that allows you to move between servers on the network while only having to load the resource pack once. Can't really explain more since people could simply remake this feature since as far as I know it was only patched by banning this version of Wynntils.

No need to worry, It may take a day, perhaps longer, to get a reply. Keep in mind moderators are people too, and are not always available. As long as you were honest in your appeal, and the reason of ban is not so serious, you should get unbanned soon, its just a matter of patience.

 

Except Toy & Salk. they are robots now.
