Aka the game that will never get a sequel because it has been reworked 10901 times before release

    Intro:
I love this game. Sinking so many hours into it. The concept seems pretty basic at first: you are an adventurer in a war-torn land. You fight, you level up, do quests and find better gear and recuit companions.

It just happens you are meant to have hundreds of companions. Though they'll mostly be nameless fodder.
You fight in battles with dozens of troops on both sides. Sure, you might be better than a small group of enemies, but you will never defeat an army alone.

You will probably become a mercenary company for a faction, then aid them in war, fighting battles, taking castles. You will probably become a vassal of a realm, upgrade your territories, fight in petty feudal duels after denouncing that sadistic lord (who likes raiding villages and burning innocents) for the third time in a week, and then gain power within the realm, gathering better and more upgrade troops and holdings. Eventually, you will cause a civil war as you and your allies try to usurp the throne for you. Once king, you can do so much more. Direct the army to crush the enemy far more efficiently than the AI. Crush the other factions and become the only faction left in the land. And win.

There's plenty of other things to do. Embrace your inner murder-hobo by opressing peasants and raiding villages or crush the hideouts of the heretics and bandits. Found your own kingdom instead of usurping a new one. Get married after making the a lady's opinion of you high enough(and meeting other requirements, of course). Or just stay small, as a mercenary company, travelling around the land, meeting and killing new and intresting people, hearing stories from your companions and piecing together the lore of the land. Or win tournaments and arena melees for gold and glory!

But in the end, it's really about fighting big battles with your own tactics and cunning. Fight them in a village to get extra cannon fodder/allies! Make a flanking manouver! Analyze the composition of the enemies and choose the most effective troops after restocking at a nearby castle you control! Bait a greedy enemy lord away from your village (Being raided)to a massive army and murder the enemy army!

There's a lot of room for skill, smarts and roleplaying in this game. At the moment I'm playing Prohecy of Pendor, a mod that's very good. If you like leading an army to "Crush them!" after declaring "I will drink from your skull!" on the enemies while "It's almost harvesting season" you might like this game. If you do NOT like running away like a coward, you will dislike this game. Because you will do that a lot. As with savescumming.

    It's still a good game.

Anyways, this thread is for general discussion about the game, the sequel, and the mods. Because I'm pretty sure someone else who plays M&B is here.

My character has a last name that's German because it makes me seem smart. I also have a castle and some other things, like a few pawns companions and a few assets friends, like, I don't know, a few vassals with good personalities and the king? Also, we mostly burnt down an enemy faction and are keeping the war active because we like to bully them. I also found a gun and bullets (Results in some intresting results when I'm in combat. Because nobody else has one. It's the only one in the game.) and keep feeding my troops grain. ONLY GRAIN. Not even bread or hard cheese. Because PETA isn't a thing in warband. Who cares about morale? My megacorporation also has enterprises in most cities, so when not in war, I am pretty rich.

It's good to not be a NPC, and to make a thread that will get like 20 views and no replies because I like games nobody else likes for some reason.

Apsolutely loved that game, I conquered every single town and castle and owned the entire map on diplomacy. Then it glitched and the other kingdoms refused to surrender XD

Just finished my 3rd PoP campaign today, despite the fact that it is meant to be harder than native I finished it before native. My character is a complete beast now, riding fastest horse which had 66 speed, got ruby mystic plate, ruby sword and bow and lordly Noldor knight helm. Can't get any better than that.

I don't have one. The only 2 ways you can get it is taking it from Donavan and getting 300 firearms and than getting it from a knighthood order.

So you let Donavan keep it or didn't hire Donavan? It's a really good weapon.

Well, you have Ansen, right? Cheap to hire and you can get so much surgery that your units almost never die, only get knocked out

I made Ansen a lord because he is good natured, by the time your in the late game your vassals and mercenary companies will supply heaps of troops. Donavan is also a good lord because of the martial personality so I made him one. Also I don't like using the Arquebus due to the fact you can't use it on horses and it's inferior to bows in the late game when you have +300 archery skill and the best bow in the game may only do 50 piercing damage it is way quicker than the gun.

Sarelons are like the Swadians in native, they are almost always the first faction to be destroyed.

Somehow I managed to get them together (accidentally chose them at start without knowing much)
Took like 4 castles from Fierdsvain, and also Poinsbruk from Ravens (easy, Jatu kept sacking it)

Also I did the ”oh noes my sister got kidnapped” starter quest after like 200 days in (didn’t know of t)

I usually start by day 300, the army's will start sacking towns and when that happens you can just leave your current faction attack a villager and take the town.

Well, we might as well use this to share our tricks and tips.

One method I found for creating an ambush:
Needs some archers, calvary and for the enemy to gather behind a hill.
You tell your forces to go gather and ”hold this position” just on the other side of the hill, so the enemy won’t see them.
You then go circle the enemy with a shield up. If you do it right, they will start running towards you, and because the calvary is faster, they will be separated from the infantry
At that point, tell your units to charge.

What will probably happen: your Calvary will crash into the infantry/archers, slaughtering them. Once the enemy infantry is dead, the calvary will be easy targers for your archers on top of the hill, and you will outnumber them by a lot.

Yet, I still can’t figure out how to flank.
