SPOILER Is Martyn Any Important To The Lore? Questions Raised By Deja Vu

Soo in the new quest Deja Vu we get to see Martyn! An easter egg that has come to life. He has time powers and presides over the valley. The real question is how Martyn is important to the lore. Is he even? Or is he a construct for the quest, which I might add, has some missing periods.

What prompted me to think was this suspicious piece of information...

At the end of the quest, Asher abruptly turns and tells you that he suspects that Martyn is affiliated with Bob. Now how he knew this and how that even correlates to the quest is another question for the GM.

Naturally I went and poked around in Martyn's little cabin, but found nothing of the sort that indicates some sort of deeper lore shit. But idk, this felt too abrupt of sorts to be just some random shit. It doesn't help that Ol' Man Martyn is acting all mysterious towards the end.

Perhaps Old Man Martyn will become a guiding light for us in dern or something. maybe? ?????

tldr? - dialogue in deja vu felt very deliberate at the end, prompts life mystery.

 

As soon as I saw Asher mention he had letters to Bob in his house I immediately suspected he was Nilrem.

From the outdated lore about Bob https://wynncraft.gamepedia.com/Bob Bob meets the 4 masters of the Wynn province, Chak, the answer of a question in "The Fortune Teller" quest, Mael, a twain who did not go to war with his brothers and we meet him in the quest "A Grave Mistake " re-incarnated in the form of Alem, Ethe, mentioned in the lore of Ethereal, Fier, he lived in Troms but never mentioned in-game except in the library, only then in the Sealed Letters does Bob tell Nilrem to make a fake body and bury it in a tomb, but the quest Reincarnation shows you fighting a alive Bob, but this may just be the body Nilrem made, Bob apparently used his life force to seal up a Dernic creature, most likely the eye to prevent it from destroying Wynn and perhaps the rest, but it's not clear who Martyn is, he may be Nilrem, or perhaps Bob isn't human considering he was 147 years old, he could be the last of the Olm, considering they had control over time magic and other strong forces, making Bob superior in most and prolonging his age, that is to mention that he brewed a potion for his 3 companions to prolong their age and Bob had gray-ish skin, while his dying mother of birth did corrupt and become Witherbone, she was still human, it isn't clear if the Olm came from Dern, but whoever Bob's father was, he was definitely not a human, perhaps it was the dying creature we see in the Time Valley discovery, trying to rebirth the race by having, um... stuff with another race. Bob did own the Abysso Galoshes before and gave them to the family in Lost Soles, considering they had Dernic magic imbued into them, so perhaps we'll have to wait until Dern for this damn mystery to be unlocked.

Yes he is, but he didn’t exist as an NPC before 1.18. His name was only referenced in his little wood cabin before the update.

I'm just curious why he asks if you can prevent a time anomaly (mentioning all the signs) but then nothing ever happens involving that. Or am I misremembering dialogue?

 

Time Anomalies, Probably gonna re-appear in a future quest Imo

 

I think he is also in the tutorial and in the mystery manor

 

Martyn? Don’t know for sure if old man is old man martyn, but would make sense, given his seemingly omnipresence
