Armouring Possible Cancer-apoc Helmet/chestplate

So this is something interesting I came up with. This is essentially a recipe to recreate the Cancer(/Necro)-Apoc builds from before the rename and the nerf preceding it. Its effectiveness may, however, depend on the base durability of armour, so keep that in mind. For this recipe you will need 2x Black Hole, 1x Decaying Heart and 3x Lion Heart in the following configuration (colour coded):

(Hopefully) both Black Holes will be boosted by 100%, because they're not touching the Decaying heart. Two of the Lion Hearts are touching the Decaying Heart, so they will only grant a durability bonus. The one not touching the Decaying Heart will give a defence and fire damage boost, which is again doubled by the Decaying Heart. If I didn't screw anything up the end result with max stats will be:

Combat Lv. Min: ???
Defense Min: 45

+4 Tier Attack Speed
+24% Fire Damage
+12 Defence

[??? - 125 Durability]

Again, I might be overlooking something, so this might not work. Right now, this seems extremely powerful. If you find a mistake, please say so.

 

Durability is affected by +/- effectiveness

 

Really? Nice to know. Guess that means it has 45 less durability than predicted. What would happen if I threw so Borange Fluffs in there?

You lose all the durability from 2 lion hearts and doubles the -Durability on BH

 

Math alert: this won't work very well.
Black Holes are -90 durability each. Now we're at -180 durability.
The two Lion Hearts being boosted by Decaying Heart add 180 total, but then you lose 90 durability because of the non-boosted Lion Heart. Now we're at -90 durability, but wait! The Black Holes are also negatively boosted, so now we're down to -270 durability. Now we add the -80 durability from the Decaying Heart; now we're at -350 durability. Not very useful.

Though if my math is right, by putting the Decaying Heart in a middle slot, surround it with 3 Lion Hearts and put the Black Holes in the two remaining corners you get the same item but with only -90 durability.

EDIT: With my changed positioning the item has -170 durability, forgot about the -80 on the Decaying Heart

 

overall, I'm getting the vibe that +tier is still going to be balanced by low durability, preventing extended use or requiring frequent repair visits.

 

Ok so after Pokextreme's correction the +100% ingredient effectiveness means that the durability penalty on Black Hole is doubled, that's a bit weird but ok.

With your (Altakar) configuration wouldn't all three lion hearts be useless and not just two and why would the -durability on Black Hole not be doubled with yours.

Ok so main question, WHEN is the -durability on Black Hole doubled, with 100% effectiveness or -100% effectiveness?

 

-80 durablity from the decaying heart
-180 from the black holes (don't think +effectiveness affects durablity, but -eff does)
+45 from one lion heart
+0 from 2 lion hearts touching decaying heart


Ends up as -215 durablity, if I caculated correctly. Yeah, that's a bit too little to use it

 

If I'm not being stupid I think that this is the correct amount. Still the question stands. What would happen if you were to swap the two Lion Hearts touching the Decaying Heart (since they don't do anything now anyways) for Borange Fluff?

 

if i understand this correctly this:

(B = black hole, L = lions heart, D = decaying heart)

should give +4 tier for -180 durability

upper lions heart and black hole are at x3 effectiveness and lower ones at x1
(1 base + 1 from decaying heart not touching -1 from decaying heart touching)
so thats 4*-90+4*45=-180
and the decaying hearts are at x0 effectiveness so they dont give -durability but since ingredient effectiveness is (probably) unaffected by other ingredient effectiveness they should still work

 

Ooh that's interesting. I hadn't thought about using two Decaying Hearts before. I'm not too sure about their durabilities cancelling each other out though. Would be nice if we could get some confirmation.

 

Is +/- effectiveness affected by +/- effectiveness?
