    So I grabbed a few textures from Cave Story and made my own level
    Sadly, not playable because I don't know how to use any game-developing program and the original engine for Cave Story isn't available to the public

    I would but the original cave story engine isn't available to the public AND I'm not recreating Cave Story's gameplay in Unity or GameMaker or something
