I was banned once for something I did not (or I am quite sure I did not) do, this ban was permanent but was later lifted due to the mistake I assume. I'm just wondering if that ban counts against my record and if the next ban I receive will be permanent (not that I plan on getting banned, just a general question because I am taking any precautions to not get banned). I would prefer the official word of a moderator, thanks!

Sorry if im not the person you were looking for to answer, but i am pretty sure that if the ban was 100% declared false by the moderator that banned you, the ban will not count. But may aswel be safe, play by the rules, and avoid a ban at any cost.

Totally right, if your ban was lifted due to a mistake by a staff member, then, obviously, it won't count as a ban. However this shouldn't be a reason to get a free-pass for a ban (Pass that you aren't sure to get depending on why you get banned)
