Any Class Help How Exactly Does Poison Work?

I know this may seem very dumb BUT hear me out because I was a testing a poison build for pve and I'm confused because my poison damage clearly adds up to about 10k+ but for some reason when I attack the poison sit around 3.4k or so. Can anyone explain this to me??

 

poison does all the damage in 3 ticks
eg:1000 poison 333 damage 3 times

 

yes but according to the game it says I had 10k/3s but when I attacked it did only 3.4k. unless you mean that the number given next to the /3s is the total damage being dealt then that is otherwise misleading

 

enemy defense or whatever its called affects poison too I think

EDIT: I think it's armor, since curse kinda breaks their armor and gives me my desired numbers

 

i was trying to do Li with a poison build and same issue with it too unless I'm reading the stats wrong

 

10k/3s means 10k is the total damage over the 3 poison ticks.

 

Ok thanks i just needed to clarify that because I misread it in the game.

 

no, curse just raises your damage, or i guess damage taken.

poison does true damage (should always do at least the damage that it says, never does less)

 

it doesnt
curse does affect poison yes but it's just the plain old +210% damage boost, no clue what youre on about about mob armour
