Well, if all you're looking for is positive defenses and no mythics/LI items, then you have a full gamut of builds to choose from. You could use a Gravity build or the Morph Set (which I recommend for mages) among many other options. If you find yourself being killed a lot as a mage, then I recommend finding armor that can boost your defense and agility 50 SP each altogether, requiring only defense and agility to be donned.

This is because with 50 SP in defense and 50 SP in agility extra, you can get both to 150. 150 Defense + 150 Agility = 19.2% damage taken while getting hit only 19.2% of the time.
That makes you take, on average, only 3.6864% of the damage that you normally would.

Morph works well for this, like other rainbow builds might, since they tend to have positive defenses as well. Here's an alternate build you might like that fits your criterion while providing the insane defensive capabilities of max defense and agility percentages:

Why did you just slap on a bunch of sp armor? That’s really low damage and health. You should instead use Bismuthinite and use Earth powders on it, and then use a bunch of poison, attack speed, and/or earth armor.

also the 150 150 agil def makes you have 25 times the effective health so xD

 

tbh you might still die to certain bosses due to low mana, 2k heals, and also matrojan idol and cybel hurt. additionally, since it takes so long to kill those bosses, chances are you're going to eventually get rnged to death

 

Not to mention 140 Int is sort of overkill with relatively little spell damage. Swapping on Diamond Fusion Bracelet would do quite a bit to boost survivability against elemental attacks.

Edit: Will work better when Far Cosmos gets buffed with elemental defenses I guess.
