Guilds Are One Of The Best Parts Of Wynn

(uhhh I was planning to write this for a long time but I guess you could consider this a response to the “guilds are boring” thread)

I don’t get why people disregard the guild system in Wynn or don’t take it seriously. One thing I can think of is the simplicity of this system. However, the players have made the most out of it despite how limited it currently is, which surprisingly ends up turning it into being one of the best parts about Wynn.

Though the features in game are quite basic, they do not prevent socialization, and because of that, guilds end up being tight knit communities that are a great place to meet new interesting people and make friends. Many guilds have even gone as far as to create their own internal structures and ranking system. While such a concept may seem silly to some, it actually creates a unique environment that further improves upon the social aspect of guilds. In my experience with guilds, I have made friends from across the world that I could not have met through any other way. Some people still believe that internet friends aren't "real" friends, but the communities and friendships formed as a result of guilds prove them wrong.

Wars are another major part of guilds and yet another thing that people don’t seem to take seriously. One great thing about them is that they are a source of more challenging endgame content. You are swarmed by mobs with the power level near that of bosses, a situation different from your typical bossfight at LI that forces you to build and fight differently. I guess you can argue that it gets monotonous at times, but wars themselves are not even the main appeal of warring (that sounded kinda stupid lmao). What truly makes warring great is, once again, how players have made the most out of the system. To make the most out of how wars work in this game, coordinated alliances and guild politics have emerged, turning the simple system of killing mobs and taking territories into something much more sophisticated than what it appears to be on the surface.

Guilds, in the end, offer no direct benefits to the main gameplay. But by that logic, why play games or even do the things you like to do in your life if they supposedly bring nothing to you? It is because they bring you enjoyment, and guilds do the same. In addition to that, they also bring you a unique experience that you probably can’t find in many other places because of the communities and politics within the system. I was honestly shocked back when I started to participate in guilds, because it was hard to believe that guilds could offer so much with the basic system we currently have. I am really glad that I finally decided to get into guilds at one point because it has brought me so many unforgettable memories and experiences that no other place could give, and I'm sure a lot of others can say the same.

Hopefully this has changed your mind and cleared some misconceptions about the system if you were one of those who thought guilds were boring/pointless. Also, if you’re someone who’s never participated in guilds before, perhaps give it a try and see what you’ve been missing out on.

I agree that guilds are fun, and I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for this, but guilds really aren't that fun unless your guild is in Fed. Every time you take a territory it's gonna get recaptured by some random fed guild that got called in as backup, honestly I think the whole alliances thing ruins guilds. It should be a FFA, not all the strongest guilds teamed together to take down a few small guilds that are really no threat to them. Instead of being based on your war activity, guild bank, and war builds, it's just based on whether you join Fed or not.

But other than that, guilds are great

I may not be the least bit involved in guild politics, and I haven't even been in an ingame guild since 2015, but I truly feel like they're one of the core parts of Wynn. I remember back when guilds came out one of the mods said that guilds are meant to keep people playing the game. For me, the best parts of the game have come from player interactions and just talking with people, and guilds are great for that. Glad to see that all those "add guilds" suggestions back in the old days paid off.

I just think that guild are fun but shouldn't be taken nearly as seriously as they're being taken by some people.
I enjoy playing with my buddies and getting a big team of friends together to unite over one thing, But the entire politics/drama/roleplaying thing just ruins it completely.
A lot of people tend to forget how it's all just a game and get way too carried away.
I get it, People wanna brag about having a lot of territories, But in the end it doesn't really do anything besides help you expand your "Group of friends" with more player capacity... And even then you eventually just get more player spots than you could fill so you end up with a bunch of people you don't actually know that well inside of said group of friends.
I would say this though- I do think being a part of a guild at least for once, Small or big, Is a necessary part for the full Wynncraft experience.

I see a ton of people flaming each other, being passive agressive af, talking shit, etc over guilds. It's really quite disturbing, and you can kinda see that bleed in with guild related threads. Even in small guilds I noticed it could get really toxic, and the whole politics of it all I wouldn't get involved in whatsoever.

honestly lemme just clear some things up; no hate, just facts here

First, please don't call out Fed on this, every alliance before ours has done the same exact thing, we aren't special except for lasting a tad longet than like every other alliance except Hax's.

Secondly, plunging the entire map into an ffa are would lead to..

    Nothing.

-Very slow growth, because you can't hold any territory for an extended period of time.
-Recruitment would become harder as less players would see the banner of a specific guild everywhere, making that player think the guild is really strong (as ex-Fox and an Imp citizen who reviews apps, I can assure you this is a legitimate reason somehow).
-Guilds would become even more of a money sink from emerald donations instead of territory emeralds because, once again, guilds couldn't hold territories for extended periods of time. (Maybe that's good I guess? Idrk, I don't think so though)

And lastly, even if alliances were banned, I'm almost positive truces would take their place and guilds would just work together on a smaller scale in the background. Plus, that rule would be ridiculously hard to enforce: The topic and rule is very broad and could cover too many topics, easily letting it be abused by staff (not calling staff corrupt, just stating a theoretical example).

Overall, yes, alliances are "unfair" to some guilds, but with enough effort and time every alliance crumbles. Federation may have lasted for a long time but, as the wise Tntdestroyd once said..

    never think anything last forever

ok good points and all, but i'm not suggesting a ban on alliances, and the reason I say Fed is because they're the biggest and strongest alliance in wynn, and it's been that way since I returned in april.

All I'm saying is, there are some people who might find guilds frustrating because every time they try to take a territory, it gets taken back almost immediately, and none of the other guilds in the alliance will do anything about it, leaving you to sit there crying because no matter how hard you try you'll never keep a territory for a decent amount of time unless you're really lucky.

And let me make this clear, this is not my personal opinion, I'm just saying that I know there are some people out there who think this way. I personally love guilds, and think fighting against fed is actually even more fun than being in fed. Because if you're in fed, fed holds literally the entire map most of the time (exaggeration) so you have nowhere to attack except FFAs. However if you're not in fed, you can attack whatever then hell you want whenever.

So in conclusion I actually enjoy guilds the way they are, but there are some people who have issues with these things

Guilds are my absolute favorite part of Wynn and if they didn't exist, frankly I'd have quit Wynn years ago because I find no enjoyment in the actual game itself.

I actually really like your post because it shows where we are with guilds and where we need to go. I agree, meeting new people and creating new friendships in guilds is one of the best parts of guilds but, I have to disagree with that the politics/drama/roleplaying in guilds are ruining the game. Without drama and politics guilds would be very boring and there would be no development what so ever. Guilds need the drama for you to take someone else's territories, guilds need politics for you to get allies to help you take territories, guilds need conflicts so relationships are broken and people start fighting between themselves. Personally, I'm ok with all of that and wish to see more drama in the future. My real problem which, I completely agree with @LordMuttonChops , is that people get carried away and let some conflicts become too personal.
It's ok to not agree with someone else. It's ok not to like someone else. It's ok to not trust someone else. However, it's not ok to insult someone else. It's not ok to spread false roomers, It's not ok to ruin someone's reputation. I'm not trying to call anyone out or saying that we don't do this because let's be real we all are a little toxic. This is something each and every one of us has to work on as a community, to help guilds become a more welcoming place for all players.

You're exaggerating quite a bit. Toxicity only appears common due to occasional incidents tending to stand out and a small portion of people. No matter where you go, it is inevitable that you find toxicity, and in reality, only a small portion of the community is toxic. And I get that the politics are not for everyone which is perfectly fine, but there's appeal to it due to how it makes guilds so much more interesting. I agree that some people need to learn to stop taking things so personally, but overall I do not think these things should deter people from experiencing one of the best parts of the game.
