Telltale Shutting Down

I'm not sure if a lot of you know about this, But some of you must have heard about TellTale games.
Those guys practically shaped the choice-games industry, And made some of my personal all-time favorite video games (Tales from the Borderlands and The Wolf Among Us, Which if you haven't played both already I heavily encourage you to do so).
Sadly, Without any actual further notice- They've just shut down due to financial trouble, Even though they had at least 3 games that have been known to be a work in progress (The Wolf Among Us 2 which I've been EXTREMELY looking forward to, The last season of The Walking Dead which they'll sadly never actually get to finish, And a choice game for Stranger Things, All 3 have been canceled).
Just thought I'd post this.
They will be missed.​

Would be awesome if they at least made the entire story public before shutting down completely, The first one had such a cliffhanger and so much potential for continuation, And like I said since they announced that the game was supposed to be released around 2018 we can only assume it was in a really late development stage.

 

i dont think its going to get completely dropped, if it was nearly done its probably going to get bought by another company or some shit

That's extremely sad to hear. Out of the current game franchises out right now, they were the primary one driving story-rich games. So many games just don't bother with their stories, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it causes the medium as a whole to lose out on so much potential.

 

Yeah even though I never really got into the games myself I thoroughly enjoyed watching others play them simply for the story, its going to be a sad game world now that they are gone.

 

Same, I always enjoyed watching Youtubers play their games.

 

I remember when I was younger I played the free demo for "The Walking Dead Season I" on my tablet, I had a good time but sadly never got to play anything else by Telltale
I've watched some youtubers play Telltale's games but I would always stop watching to not spoil anything for me. (Ruben is dead, fuck)
Telltale was a good company, and while they made be gone forever, they will never be forgotten

Kids don't want a good story nowdays, Kids want fortnite.

That's just sad, all I can say, Telltale made some games that made the medium look like an art form. Now when I look at Fortnite and such, all I see is disappointment. Not that these games don't have a right to exist, but the medium can be so much greater than this. Look at some of the best that the industry has to offer, the entire Bioshock Series, Half life, Hyper Light Drifter,Last of Us, Uncharted 4, Tomb Raider, Dead Cells, Dark Souls, Journey. Games can be more than just Press left button to shoot until shinies pop out. And now we have fallen so low that we find micro transactions to be ok. How low have we fallen.....

 

TellTale is shutting down??? That's so sad, I loved their games.

 

Rip TellTale even tho I never played all of their games except Minecraft Storymode

 

you can tell they prefer fortnite over games with great stories when im likely the only one at my high school that knows about Cave Story
And i fucking love this game, it is satisfying both gameplay-wise and story-wise, yet i dont hear anyone talking about it ;-;

 

To be fair, that came out awhile ago.
