Don’t Be Angry At The Ct

The next update was planned to be something else than RtD in a meeting shortly after the last update was released, which is a reasonable time to do so. However, the thread telling about future updates was released long before this, when RtD was merely idealized to be the next update. For the thread, Grian was unaware of the situation, and accidentally "confirmed" uncertain information without thinking twice, or passing it through others. This caused a misunderstanding in the community, thinking the next update would be RtD. After noticing his mistake, he eventually posted this new thread, apologized, and personally explained what's actually going on.

This was just a mistake from Grian resulting in a misunderstanding, which he's taken responsibility for and taken action towards by correcting his past self.

This does not mean that the next update has only just been started, nor does it mean it'll be delayed by any means.

This does mean that majority of the time people expected to be put on RtD, was actually put on the next update.

This does not mean that Road to Dern has been canceled.

This does mean that RtD will be released faster after the update, due to the background work done on it.

I hope this should clear any remaining questions you and anyone else have.



It'd be nice if this didn't get turned into an arguing thread. Positive threads such as these have a large effect on the CT's motivation, while negative comments only have a bad influence on it.

And let's think about this for a second, the poor CT and Owners take huge risks telling us anything, or not telling us anything. Their choices effect hundreds of players. If that's not enough pressure to explode on a daily basis I don't know what is. They have been doing a great job with current and future content. Those of you who are complaining then adding "I left/dont play anymore", why are you saying anything? You don't play, why does it matter what they do?
The team needs support and understanding, not hate over petty things.

 

Wait, are talking about the annucement thread, or something else? Becouse if you're talking about the nnucement thread than I'd say it's a bit weird to apolgize for mistake few months after the dissusion about the next update.

Grian was just RECENTLY informed that the update wasn't going to RtD which raises many questions why he even should make the annucements if he's so uninvolved that he doesn't even known what everybody's working on.

Either way you look at this Grian just seems really incompetent.

I'm sorry about what I said earlier. I hope it didn't discourage you or anyone else. You guys are pretty special, and I do appreciate the creativity you put in the game.

Your whole argument was about how either the post was very delayed, or that Grian only found out very recently - neither of those are accurate, as I just stated.

 

I'm not mad at the CT, nonono, I imagine they had no choice in the matter, the CT are completely fine and my opinion on just them has not changed.

I'm mad at the admins for giving us no word, not even a tiny word, for 9 months straight, and then postponing the one thing they promised from the update and completely changing its course; which I imagine will take another 4 months to complete; and considering something like canceling a sub-province will obviously take a month or so of discussion, and HTZ said that they decided it would be canceled before he left, they OBVIOUSLY were not planning on telling us until late.

I'm not even sure if I hadn't bugged the admins for a week straight about giving us no word we'd even know right now.

Admins weren't planning on telling us that 1.18 wasn't going to be RTD until late.

EVEN MORE than that they decided IN DECEMBER not to do RTD.

 

He was away, on a break, sick, busy with real life, busy with youtube, out of the loop for a long while, up until this point. I suppose it's not a secret that youtube's a more profitable platform than minecraft, but he shouldn't be judged for it. Sure, he let people down, but even with things like this, he's pulled himself back at potential costs of his youtube career, in order to not bottleneck Wynn's progress or future. Afterall, he's still a human like the rest of us.

This was not the intention, ever. There's no reason to mislead the community with only negative potential effects. As mentioned before, it was Grian's burden to bear, and with him out of the loop there isn't much to do, unless a shoddy apology on his behalf would do. Even upon coming back, there was nothing more than a time of procrastination due to all of the potential hate to be received, before the RtD postponing was made public.

That's funny. I could've sworn we were misled for 9 months while the admins and CT added fuel to our fire on what we expected whilst knowing that it was all for nothing. Must be high again. I'll head off to bed, thank you.

In all seriousness; that's exactly what happened. We were misled, it had negative effects. End of story.

I hate to sound pessimistic, but I need to get this off my chest.

First of all, this isn’t the CT’s fault, I agree with the OP. Who is to blame here is Grian. We already know that Grian isn’t exactly a good game developer, from giving wrong release dates for Gavel and DnD and never interacting with the community since he’s never on forums. I think we can agree that all of this is Grian’s fault. The conflicting messages here aren’t helping either; According to the other thread, RTD was supposed to be part of the next update, then stopped, and now, it never was supposed to be part of the next update? This makes absolutely 0 sense, and if the latter is true, why didn’t we know about it until now? It makes Grian look really incompetent.

Another thing is, this quote from Grian on the other thread:

This is an extremely idiotic statement, for these reasons:
1. It makes it sound like Grian is playing the victim while the community is the villain, even though we have a right to be upset.
2. “We tried showing all the details of upcoming updates” is a blatant lie. We don’t know anything major about the next update, other than improved gavel quests and RTD won’t be added.
3. People don’t want complete silence, nor do they want bad news, We got both things. We want to know at least what the focus of next update will be, since its a bit hard to get hyped about something we dont know about. We knew the focus of Gavel, Gameplay, and Corkus before the updates were released, so what the hell’s the difference this time around?

I know I’ll get a lot of hate for this, but sadly, it’s how I truly feel.
