Well that’s what I mean; the 6 extra class slots shouldn’t count because most people don’t have 10 classes and they don’t actually change the gameplay or content in anyway. So if JP did mean that, then it’s really just misleading.

Even 4 playthroughs is a bit much for most casual people. Most people just do one or two, and maybe 3 playthroughs of a game if they really like it.

Is that just how long you’ve been on the server across all classes? Did you get 100% across all classes? There’s no way one 100% playthrough is 150 hours.

I haven’t heard of that, but it can’t be that much different based on my own experience. Whenever I reach the end game I just delete my classes because I want to have a fresh look at the game.

The hours in the api are definitely bugged. It had it listed for like a few hours of playtime on my no spell archer which was not true.

150 is still ludricous. In comparison, Skyrim takes about 300 hours to practically complete 100%. I think we can at least all agree that Skyrim has WAY more content than Wynncraft.

Oh, on the first few pages of the leaderboard the hours seem to make sense. But still, anything over 1000 hours is impossible. And I don’t mean that no one has ever sunk that much time into a game before.

I mean that it does not take 1000 hours to beat any game practically 100%. So in this case, stuff like getting every single mythic in game wouldn’t count, or doing 10 classes.

New classes/reskins? That'd bump up the playtime :D
Or maybe some kind of Hardcore mode for high level players? Like you don't regenerate soul points and once your player is dead for good, you have to restart? (But no loss of items at low soul points obviously)

Alright, I have a lot to add here. Firstly, I have over 1000 hours myself on Wynn (check with Motobot on discord or the WynnStats bot, Wynn's API does not give accurate numbers, some sort of equation is needed), and if you think that's laughable, check Nyam's playtime.

    Literally over 10,000 hours.

Anyway, all of these rumors I can kinda confirm (I have no proof to show, but jp often joined Fox's vc and liked to talk with us about a myriad of things). One of the things that I remember him saying most clearly was that "the next update (not rtd) is going to be on a larger scale than any other update before, and it is going to change the very groundwork for the game itself" .

After thinking it over after hearing him say that, I remembered that when I and a friend were discussing grinding spots in the same vc minutes earlier, and jp mentioned that grinding would be changed very drastically (this is what prompted him to give us the little hint on the update).

Of course, I may have not remembered everything clearly, but I'm pretty sure I got most of it right. Also, since the only thing I can really give to verify this is my word, there's a lot of you who are probably gonna doubt me lmao

    your choice

What are you basing your average play through time off of? Is there some statistic somewhere that the owners had given that you're quoting, or are you basing that number off of your own experiences and playthroughs you know a few other players have had? If it's the second of those two, then your number is likely biased quite heavily to be lower than a true average.

In the thread Grian just posted, someone (one of the CT I believe) had mentioned that the well-informed minority of players who use the forums and/or discord take a significantly shorter amount of time to go 1-100 than a player learning everything for themselves from scratch each time they play through a class. Personally, I remember sinking well over 50 hours into my first class as a Mage, and that class is still only sitting at level 86 or 87.

tl;dr - You may be low-balling the play through time estimates because of a biased player sampling.

You’re not understanding what I’m saying.

Your examples don't hold up because:
You didn't specify if you got 100% on each class
How many classes you have and what level they are
    What even counts as 100%

In the context of this discussion, I'm talking about how long it takes for an average player to reach 100% completion of the game based on the criteria of:
    Completing every quest
Completing every dungeon at least once
Finding every discovery, boss altar, and territory
Reaching level 100 on a single class

    What it DOESN'T include:
    Getting every mythic ingame
    Reaching level 1000 or 1010
    Reaching level 101

What a person does after the criteria, or how much time they spend doing the said thing, does not count towards the total gameplay hours because they are repetitive and don't add much to the gameplay. If this wasn't factored in, then theoretically, every game could have an infinite amount of gameplay hours. A person is also assumed to be active for most of the gameplay hours to factor out AFKing.

That's the thing. Every game /can/ have an infinite amount of gameplay hours. There isn't a static time that says "x amount of quests should be done by y amount of time" which dictates actual playtime amounts. There is no static number here, JP's estimates could be just as far under what he said in reality as they could be above them, theoretically.

Again, when people talk about how long a game is, they usually refer to how long it takes for an average player (while being active most of the time) to reach the end/goal, or reach 100% completion. It's completely meaningless to say that a game has an infinite amount of gameplay hours because it doesn't tell you anything about the game itself and includes repetitiveness that most people don't subject themselves to.
    ________________________________
It's mostly based off my own experience and few others. While I do admit that bias could be valid criticism, I don't get your double standard then:
    ________________________________
For some players it could be more, it could be less, but it's definitely not over 100 hours or anywhere near JP was talking about. Especially for his projected estimates.

A change to grinding would be welcome, perhaps a multiplier so that after you kill a mob, the next mob you kill (within a short range of time) gives you 1.1x the ruglar xp, then maybe after 5 mobs, 1.2x, then scaling up to 2x (That would only be achieved after like 100 mobs though)
