I really dont think that was the situation in the context the discord conversation was in but I do get where you are coming from

 

and every single one of those hours consists of breeding horses to get the new 5th horse tier




if that's actually true please stab me

 

Id rather think it would be the hours of farming the emeralds to actually breed them

 

Let's just pray the 8x more content isn't pure grinding. Hopefully it'll add something similar to a prestige system suggested multiple times before. Honestly, I don't know how the playtime is supposed to multiply by a factor of eight otherwise.

 

Although I doubt that the next update will septuple the amount of gameplay, it looks like it will really change wynncraft for the better judging by this and comments I've heard recently. Given jpresent's previous track record on here, I have a lot of faith in whatever he's working on.

A walkthrough of Wynncraft from 1 to 100 with beating every quest and no CSST will probably take 20 to 30 hours.

 

It can be true, but then the next update will come in 10 years

 

for those saying that the amount of gameplay seems outlandish and crazy:

gameplay = the total time playing and enjoying the game including endgame content such as LI and more
gameplay =/= the time it takes for you to go from 1-100

Also note that if you use the forums or discord you are of the more informed minority who tend to play the game at a much higher speed

 

I can see such an expansion of play time if these features add depth into the game instead of width. Depth includes new features, new complex systems that take time to learn and master, newer ways of improving or gaining good items, new ways to play the game alongside others - all of these add depth. Width, on the other hand, is the addition of map areas, quests, and other one-and-done features. Wynncraft has a metric shitload of width, but there is so much more depth to be had.

As many veterans of the server have said, "If it wasn't for Guilds, I'd've left a long time ago." Guilds are an example of a feature that adds an immense amount of depth to the game by adding a directly competitive element where groups of friends work together. Other features could be added that add depth in a similar way, but with different tasks and rewards.

I genuinely hope that this is the kind of feature that jp was referring to, because octupling the current width of content in a matter of months seems impossible.

 

Just wait until it adds 10 more levels and they all take the same amount of XP as all the levels before them.

 

Fixing PVP would increase gameplay significantly so I’d assume it may be that

Guys, the only way you could get to 300-400 hours is by completing the game 10 times over. For most people that’s quite extreme and doesn’t really add to the total time because 6 of those 10 times have no new gameplay or class mechanics.

What should be considered as the total playtime is completing the game 100% (including LI) on all 4 classes without major CSST abuse or totems. A typical playthrough is about 20 to 30 hours on average. Which times 4 is nowhere near JP’s numbers. Yes, I understand people go at different paces, but an average is still a good indicator of how much it will take for a person to complete the game.

Anything over 1000 is just laughable and ridiculous. I’ve seen one or two screenshots of people with over 1000 hours on a game, but this game, no way. JP was obviously just joking.

 

Keep in mind that you can get extra class slots with ranks so I think he counts that 20-30 x 10
