Very nice :O still listening to it right now but so far its pretty good

 

I really like how this one sounds, but at times it can be difficult to feel where measures are (or what the time signature is), particularly around 2:40. The chords and melodies sound great, it's just that the rhythm feels a bit too disjointed.

 

That's the intent there. That's one of the intended ways for it to be unsettling; it bounces round and shifts so much that it's difficult to keep track of..I THINK it ended up in 11/8 time and 13/8 for most of it, but that's probably not quite right.

Still seems like you've got your percussive fixation. The dreary, melancholic tone clashes with the heavy snare hits in my opinion. Unlike songs such as The Outlook Is Bleak, which has the uncertain, tense feel to it, yours is simply like gazing out upon ruins, and the heavy drumbeat sort of distracts from that I would say. Still, far and away an intensely improved product from how you composed before and honestly this is just an opinion of mine. Good job, man.

After quite a bit of time of thinking, i've come up with the winner:

Xavier's was extremely good, but compared to the other two..... eh....

Now it's between Selvut and Seth.

I'll be honest, this was EXTREMELY hard to decide, both are great composers and their pieces were both great.

Selvut's piece was outside of the norm when it came to Wynn songs, composing was absolutely extravagant and was very nice to hear compared to everything else I had heard in the game itself. It sounded like a mix of it's own self, Amadel, and Lexdale (at least to me), VERY well done on his part..

But Seth's nailed exactly what I wanted to hear from the theme that he had picked. The melancholy theme and the dreariness that I felt while listening worked great with the theme entirely. While as selvut said the snare drum clashed with it, the theme was still crafted with extreme amounts of skill and attention-to-detail. Having taken inspiration from the songs I picked out then putting his own creativity on it, the theme gave me the exact feeling and type of song I wanted to hear E X A C T L Y as when I started envisioning how it would sound

simply put; Selvut's was amazing, most of them were absolutely extravagant... but Seth took the cake..

(note: one of the rings glitched out so that's a bit of a setback, however the set is still mostly the same in terms of loot bonus, only a 20% difference. (which once you reach the higher and higher levels of loot bonus that isn't too bad))

 

Not really sure what to say. I see you still have a lot to say about my use of percussion haha, but uh, thanks.


From now on, I have to put things in the past. I have to do that or I'll end up regretting decisions I've made, and that regret will turn into bitterness and cause me to make stupid decisions that let the cycle continue. I've decided that I'm going to keep making music. I'll compose in my own way, and who knows, maybe someday I'll see you eye to eye again, as a fellow composer.

 

Seems like you're maturing a lot since then, and that's good to see. As I said, your skills have definitely improved since we last talked, so I think you've definitely got a future in composing if you continue, Wynn or no Wynn...and as stated, the percussion thing is more an opinion of mine than anything else; just a nitpick.

 

Dang it. Figured I still had time. I guess I'll put my thing elsewhere. Just finished it, blissfully unaware that I misremembered the deadline... Might as well link it here anyway, still kind of relevant.

 

I get the style but it still sounds more like jumbled notes to me than fitting the style soz.
