So my school district is now forcing everyone to buy ugly, privacy impairing, and unusable "Clear backpacks" which are transparent for safety purposes. This may be a temporary solution, but almost entirely useless fix, especially in the long run. Here are my reasons why this is completely bull:

    • Attacks freedom of privacy and makes school look evermore prison-like than it already is now-days
    • People who wish to still slaughter and massacre schools internally can still conceal weapons extremely easily
    • It is completely brittle, weak, or any weakness that can be described.
    • It in no way, shape, or form helps with external attacks.
    • It won't protect the students at all.
    • It is impractical to students who are taking classes that require a lot of books/notes/etc.
    • It is economically hindering to lower class students, and people who already spent money on backpacks or wanted to use their previous ones.
    • People will just conceal their stuff and my bets are on staff/admins will still not search bags, even if it violates rights.
    • My bets are on this won't be enforced well either, just like ID badges from the last few years.
You may disagree with me, but please share your arguments, how you'll protest (if you are affected by this), or add reasons to the list.

How I will protest: By putting a sign, obstructing the back with in bold letters "SEE NO EVIL"

Just wait until they force you to wear clear pants and underpants so you can't hide guns in there.

Oof i heard of this. While i do agree with most of your points on this bag i do have to say that maybe having schools looking like prisons is a good thing at this point. Especially if in the end it stops a mass shooting.

I do agree the school looking like prison point might be exaggerated, however, he clearly has a point that says shooters will find ways around a clear backpack. A shooting is a planned event to do a purpose like taking out anger on society. I am sure that they would plan enough to work around this. Unless you have evidence that clear backpacks do work, I would have to say clear backpacks are useless.

EDIT: Actually, schools being like prisons is actually terrible. A school is a learning environment, and should allow kids with freedoms to develop their interests in fields. If I would go into it more it would be off-topic and another can of worms.

From what I found so far there hasn’t been an instance where clear backpacks stopped a shooting or stabbing. So it’s probably ineffective. I wouldn’t really care too much if they didn’t cost the school money and they weren’t brittle and small. There never was privacy in school anyway.

its not simply the possession of guns thats the problem, although it certainly is a contributing factor
    upload_2018-6-23_12-2-7.png
as you can see almost 9/10 people in the US have guns, yet their total gun deaths per 10,000 people is not (too) high
compared to the countries above it, it has 9-20 times as many guns yet less than half the average deaths.
the problem with school shootings isnt that students have too much access to firearms but rather the circumstances that drive them to actually take those actions (bullying, exclusion, that kinda stuff)

I think this is easy to explain:
There’s this military doctrine called M.A.D. It means ”Mutually Assured Destruction”. (Vault-tec get outta here) The genral idea is that if two countries want to destroy each other and both have nukes, neither will want to destroy each other despite the fact they are threats to each other, because if you nuke them, they will nuke you.
So, when someone wants to shoot someone, but they know that the would-be victim has a 90% chance of having a gun and being able to shoot you, there’s a good reason to not shoot them.

At least I think this is how it is.

I'd like that source. I highly doubt it.
Most armed-citizens being at the right place and the right time is incredibly unlikely.
And the decision to get involved in stopping crime is too great a risk to themselves and those around them.
I thought that it was for self-defense, not being a hero. :P
Remember the officer in Parkland, Florida? He was armed but failed to stop the shooter because of fear.
There are so many studies that make the case that more armed-citizens do not to correlate to a decrease in crime.
The circumstances that led to this can and should be stopped. We knew about the Parkland shooter 2 years before by the FBI & the system in place did nothing to stop it. He was known to law enforcement, to the peer-counselors, and his family.
    https://qz.com/1214418/the-fbi-brow...ures-to-prevent-the-parkland-school-shooting/
As said on this article timeline, As far as Feb 5th 2016, he possessed knives and a BB gun and threatened to shoot the school over social media.

If this was in my school-district and had required us to have clear backpacks I would do the same to protest.
The solution was already given to you by former President Obama. (Thanks,Obama).
"...Auto-fatality rates, actually dropped precipitously, drastically since I was a kid. Why is that? We decided we had seat-belt laws. We decided to have manufactures put air-bags on, in place. We decided to crack down on drunk-driving and texting. We decided to redesign roads so that they less likely to have a car bank."
"We studied what is causing these fatalities using science and data and evidence and then we slowly treated it like the public health problem it was and it got reduced."

    https: //youtu.be/ 6imFvSua3Kg?t=1m59s (1:59 to 2:50)

We just need gun-laws, stricter background-checks, increase the legal age to 21.
But no, the NRA suggests that any more gun-laws are tyrannical and against the Second amendment. No one said we were taking guns-away. Only dumb people would suggest that we take anyone's guns away.

I've done a little more "research" and saw this perfect article, this would appeal to I think to the 99%.

funny enough it isnt that different it is actually a pretty good demo of what a prison would be
physically talking, it does indeed look like a prison, walls so we cant escape, a determined hour for everything, cant speak against it or say your opinion most of the time...
the only thing that can make this worse/better is the staff, the teachers and the superiors (principles or whatever they were called in english)
if they are nice guys and have mercy on you, it can turn the things around a bit, yet if they are those kind that go nuts by the most minimal things, dont expect it to be too different...

like it or not, its a fact they do look like prisons and could act like it
    also
best meme of the year, because the last thing you do there is learn something ur interested on
i like art yet i dont see a single art subject (no joke, we have none at the moment where i live... until next year) and even if there were, it would just kill our interests even more than they are, and if you dont believe me, the time we had art subjects i wanted to throw them through the window
but then plastic arts and music left our lives
and now i draw a lot and im starting to pick interest on music

Eh, it depends. Having a good teacher or not significantly influences one’s interest, but that’s not the only factor. I never did AP U.S. History because while I am interested in history, I’m didn’t want to do the hardest class in the entire school (not exaggerating) on top of other AP classes just to maybe get a general education credit in college. It’s useless by itself anyway and a U.S. history degree has some of the lowest job prospects. The teacher was really good though. There have been other classes like AP Chemistry that have sparked my interest.

Overall, you should pick classes not only based on your interests, but also whether it’s useful or even viable. While it’s not true that everything you learn in school will be useful down the road, there is quite a bit that is. Oh yeah, and for God’s sakes, please DO NOT follow your “passion.”
