How do we know that it's been only a year?

 

Well tbh, the time when involving players would be a mess if it spanned across multiple years, since new players would then be farther back in time than older players yet are still able to communicate with each other and see each other in the same places. Though, at the same time, new players also are able to do over each quest, meaning what you did relapsed itself over and the issue is anew but can only be fixed by the new player.

The more you think about newer players coming in and interacting with older players, the worse it gets when trying to link everything together.

 

I don't think there is more than one player in the lore, because why would the same people have the same problem 23978 times?

 

There probably isn't, but just the fact that they're all interconnected makes things confusing the more you think about it.
