Thank You! (5 Year Anniversary) + Wynncraft's Labyrinth

Hey guys,

Wow, I cannot believe it's been five years already (on sunday evening actually) that Wynn has been alive and growing well.
Time went by so quickly but so much stuff has happened!

I'm not anyone important but just as a random player who would like to share his thanks. Being part of this community and playing on Wynn has changed my real life, for the best and most likely saved my life while I was going through deep depression back in 2013. To be honest, I've never had this much fun in Minecraft, and probably in any multiplayer PC game (Mario Kart Wii online was also my favorite thing at the time). Wynn is the reason I continue playing this game with so much interest.

My adventure started back on Salted's previous Minecraft server in mid-April 2012, it was a community-based semi-vanilla server by the name of CraftedMovie, the most memorable social experience I've had in a game so far. Imagine a place as chaotic as 4chan, but everyone is friends with one another, you get CM. Before CM, I never knew what having friends was like and suffered from loneliness. CraftedMovie was a second home for me and many others, just like a second life, and a really good one at that.

A year later, after months of teasing, Salted releases the WynnCraft beta release for CraftedMovie players. Unfortunately my parents wouldn't let me play on the 29th, but I was able to join on the 30th. Even with very few features compared to today, it was a blast to play, especially when me and my friends would explore the map together and find secret spots.

Update after update, the server got better and better. Even though I miss the first release, what came afterwards was completely unexpected. Although back in 2013 I wished the server would continue living on and getting updates just the way it was, I never would have imagined it would become as big and epic as it is today.

Playing on your servers has really affected my life.

If CraftedMovie didn't exist, I would never have experienced having friends and would've quit drawing mazes (and never gotten into art school either I imagine).
If WynnCraft didn't exist, I would've never met certain (very important) people in my life and would have given into my depression and the agressive suicidal thoughts I had back then. I know this sounds dark but it's the truth, you saved me from it because outside of Wynn I had nothing good going for me IRL.

Now, if you didn't read this thread until this point, I don't blame you, it's a personal rant, probably not very interesting. However, I would like to present you something more interactive that I've been preparing for a while to celebrate this special day, Wynn's 5th Anniversary, but also a gift to you admins, staff and the community to thank you all for your continuous awesome across the years..

I present you, WynnCraft's Labyrinth, something I've been busy drawing since August of last year and finished it two months ago. All of it is hand drawn with HB and 2H pencils + a ruler, and it is 100% solvable. But solving a 30cm long maze can be a bit boring.. so I added an extra feature.

I know this community likes to search for hidden things, especially hidden in plain sight. So I had the idea of hiding some names of the staff, moderators and players within its walls. I couldn't add everyone's names unfortunately or the drawing would have been too crowded and visually less interesting.

I mean, judging by your profile posts, you seem to have an irrational obsession with CraftedMovie, but still....

I can't believe you put all this effort in just to solve a one-path labyrinth. Great job!
Somebody tried solving one of my labyrinths once before and ended up with a similar result :

I couldn't make it any better actually, since all of it is hand drawn and compacted on a rather small piece of paper. I also wanted to keep the crayon aspect of the lines so it doesn't look like it was completely traced over, but I got rid of any deposits left on the paper that could make some paths dead ends when in reality there aren't any.

If you guys want to see what the original looks like in proportion, it's 22x7cm big:



The smallest labyrinth I ever drew was for TJTJ5, with a total size of 4x4. Scanning it 3 years later was a complete mess.

Previously I drew two other mazes that were very large in scale but took me longer to draw, the first one which was drawn for CraftedMovie is the messiest of the lot because the paper was too thin to draw something this complicated. The scan of the other hand came out fine.

Finally in November 2012, this is one of my best drawings overall, made for Salted himself. From that point onward I began drawing on smaller pieces of paper (until I completed TJ's maze and I thought it was too much).

As for the time it took me to complete each one, Salted's took me 12 hours, TJ's took me 8 hours, CraftedMovie's > 21 hours and Wynn's > 16 hours.

 

Wynncraft's 5th Anniversary and my b-day is on the same day.
