Serious I Need Help Understanding The Forums, Pictures, Files, And Other Shit.

So, Over the years, Even having a computer when I younger, I didn't know how to use it "the right way" (For Some Info: I never knew about newgrounds, youtube, and other things when I was like 7) so, I need help, I'm sick of some stuff I'm doing and I wanna be Hip And In with the cool kids, so, all I want to know are these:

How To Upload Pictures And Easy To Use Links:

seeing people use screenshots in they're posts is cool, I wanna do that, I also want to use small links, like This!
Give some info on this kind of thing please, I'm in NEED of it, I wanna be COOL.

Profile Picture:

Just seeing my skin in my profile pic makes me bored, I want something made by someone! (I'm willing to pay up to 50 LE) Link what you think is a good artist (all of them) and some help on how to upload the picture on my profile photo.

BANNERS AND OTHER STUFF:

Banners on posts, (like blacklisted) Clickables, (under peoples posts & Comments)
and anything else like that, Its cool and I wanna use it.

Anything Else?

If there is anything I missed, please tell me, I'm a noob at this kind of thing, and I wanna get better at it, thanks for all the help!

 

Don't use black text. I can't properly read that, also use dark theme.

 

@Anthonino, either select ‘None’ or a grey text color so both light theme and dark theme users can read (I use light theme lmao).

The forums isn't that hard to use once you are used to it, so here's how you do it, without it being too overly complicated.


Sharing Screenshots or Images
For showcasing screenshots, you need to use an image sharing website. Unfortunately "Upload a file" does not quite work well.

Personally, I use imgur, but there are multiple image sharing website as well. The key thing is that you need the direct link to the image / screenshot.

Simply right click the image once it is fully uploaded, and click on "Copy Image Address" (Could be different if you are not using Windows, but should be similar).

Basically, you get a link like this: https://i.imgur.com/z58dU4O.png, with the file name extension of the image (Usually .jpg and .png are the most commonly encountered ones). If it is only https://imgur.com/z58dU4O, it will not work.

Paste your direct image link by clicking the "Image" button you see in your text editor at the top.

You should, get something like this. If it comes out with "IMG" instead, that means you did not do it right.

Sharing Links
This one is quite simple. Say you want to share this video here.

It is quite simple. You highlight the words you want to have the link, and click on "Link" on the text editor, and insert your link into it.



(By the way, you can unlick it by clicking on the "unlick" button as well, but that is gross)


Creating Spoilers
I am sure you will want to use this, as this comes very handy for formatting posts.

Highlight the text you want to place in a spoiler, click on "Insert" and click on "Spoiler" in the text editor.

You get beautiful blue boxes!

Profile Pictures

Click on, Your Profile Name > Personal Details.

On there, it should be straightforward on how you can upload your profile pic.

Note: It cannot go over 50 KB, so if it is too big you have to resize it and make it smaller.


Profile Signatures (Banners)

Profile Signatures are also found in your profile.

Click on Your Profile Name > Signature.

You can easily edit your signature by adding images and things. Make sure to not make it too long as it does not display all the way.

Banners, or "clickable images", are basically just images which directs to a link. Share your banner and then highlight it, then click on "link" and insert the link.

Make your thread Dark theme and Light Theme friendly (Quite Important)
Lastly, always set your forum text color to "none", or set it to a color that can be seen even with a black background or white background. The text color will then automatically change for people with dark theme or light theme.

People always complain about it, here is what your thread looked like to people with Dark Theme.


Most people (including myself) gets annoyed by this. So make sure not to fall for the same mistake again!

You can customize the background theme for the forums in Your Profile Name > Preferences.
