Serious This Geniunely Disgusts Me

I’m usually a levelheaded person when it comes to most topics. This is the exception. Today USA Today posted an article titled “'Affluenza teen' Ethan Couch, who killed four people in crash, released after serving two years.”

To quote the article:
FORT WORTH, Texas --- The Texas man known for his "affluenza" defense when he was given probation for killing four people in a 2013 drunken-driving crash was released on Monday after serving two years for violating his probation.

Ethan Couch, who is now 20, has almost fulfilled a 720-day sentence for violating his original probation. He was convicted of killing four people in a drunken driving accident in 2013 when he plowed a pickup truck into a group of good Samaritans helping a stranded driver.

A psychologist testifying for the defense suggested Ethan suffered from "affluenza," a term supposedly meant to indicate that because of a wealthy, affluent upbringing devoid of consequences, he wasn't capable of knowing right from wrong, or fully accepting responsibility.
Juvenile Judge Jean Boyd eventually sentenced Couch to rehab and 10 years of probation.

Suffered... suffered for having wealth? WHAT THE FUCK is wrong with the justice system!?! It’s ok to kill innocent people as long as you’re white and privileged!?! People have spent longer time for possessing drugs! But nope, he was the one that suffered. Not the families of the victims though. They don’t know the hardships of being privileged. It’s not like their or the victims’ lives matter.

And you would think then after all this he might, just might feel guilty about what he did. NOPE. A few years later in 2015, he tried fleeing the country because he was at a beer pong party. A BEER PONG PARTY!!!!

I really try not to hate anyone or become so polarized that I don’t take into the account the other side. But this. This is just madness. I’ve known too many people who’ve lost their lives to drunk driving, and to not give ANY real consequence to him because he’s well off is just a slap to the face of victims of drunk driving and as well as minorities and people less well off.

You know what’s the worst thing about this? Not Couch, but those that run our justice system and let this stuff happen. They are the ones that really don’t care about knowing right from wrong or accepting responsibility. It really goes to show what people are willing to do just to promote their career.

Sorry if I was ranting too much here, it’s just this kind of stuff sickens me the most. What do you guys think about this?

well, people confuse justice with equality, this isnt even close to a surprise to me that the justice system is fucked up

i was referring to the fact people want equality because its "fair"
taking other situations, like, lets say (o boi here we go) feminism, they are proof equality doesnt work
because, well, i know lots of men who gave lots of good things to the world, yet for some reason i dont know any woman that did so other than say "i want rights" (feel free to bomb me with a billion of examples so i can actually believe they gave good things to literally everyone)
it should be: "here have some starter privileges, now build shit around it, turn this small house we gave you into one bigass palace"
because it wouldnt be fair to give the same pay to someone to just spends the day taking the sun and doing nothing and someone who just discovered the cure for cancer right? taking memes aside, it looks like people want more of a communist empire rather than a fair one, considering they want free shit and dont give anything

when you understand that people simply want to be rewarded for just existing, is when you realize why almost everything has a billion flaws, when you realize all these shits keep saying "we fight for equality" and not "we fight for a fair world" is when you realize most people have the wrong concept of justice

to me justice is: Reward for your work
to everyone, justice seems to be: Free privileges for merely existing

and when you realize all this, is when you realize why justice doesnt work, because nobody knows what justice actually is

It wasn't mentioned in the article I found. It only mentioned in quote "Property crimes that earned offenders a permanent home in prison include shoplifting three belts, breaking into an empty liquor store and possessing stolen wrenches."

Seriously though, life in prison for shoplifting belts? That makes no sense...

 

Weird, Ill have to look that up. People get longer for drug offenses so it wouldn’t be that surprising. :-/

Not really. This isn’t really about getting awarded for nothing or SJWs.

The whole reason why we bring up criticism of anything is not just because we don’t like it, but because we believe it can change. That’s the difference between someone purely complaining and not doing anything about it. As horrible as people can be, people have come a long way. I’m a weird sense, critics are the biggest optimists.

I think it’s prefty screwed up either way. There’s no reason why they should discriminate against someone because of their lack of wealth.
