I saw this spammed in the memes section on the discord, so I assume this is the origin of said meme.

 

how do you bash someones thread but not them? that's like telling a chef "that cake was utter garbage, but its not aimed at you so its all good"

 

That example you used just strengthened his point...

 

A cake and his chef are completely different entities. One can not like a cake without also not liking the person. They aren't the same. His thread is bad; that doesn't mean he is bad. Good people can do bad things, to use a cliche.

To further the point a bit, you can hate a chef's cake but love his soup. Judging somebody's creations shouldn't be the same as judging somebody. If that's what you do, so be it.

Let’s just ignore the fact that most players start playing wynncraft, before they join forums (i think)... and by the time they see this thread, the already finished this part (unless u got stuck on the “Kings Recuit Quest” and um... if ur that person...)

Other than that, I guess it’s pretty good for a persons first thread. Maybe next time a different topic?

Giving advice to new players is fine, but since your highest class is 40, you might wanna hold off on dedicating entire threads of advice. There are also tons of guide threads and youtube videos, so do some research before making something. You probably want to give advice in-game, since most people here on the forums won't find your stuff useful because of guide threads.

 

The reason I'm doing it now is because while I'm writing about how to get a higher lvl, I will be experiencing what i will write a month or two later.

I never said anything about him not caring. There's no correlation here.

I understand the sentiment of "Don't be mean, especially if they don't know the rules yet," but being overly soft or pretending like there's nothing wrong with this kind of thread doesn't help anyone.

 

No one said anything about pretending there's nothing wrong. it was just pointed out that you were contributing nothing to the thread and had a negative impact (shit posting??? HMMM)
There's some feedback for you, it seems like you needed a reminder of how to get some after giving it out without reciprocation

 

Then there should be no issue. My original post was made to point out that the thread was meaningless and to inquire if he was actually taking this somewhere (which, as it turns out, he did). The alternative of saying what I did (or something similar) is exactly pretending like there's nothing wrong. Besides,

this sounds a lot like you're saying there's nothing wrong with the thread.

This thread contributes nothing and had just as much of a negative impact. I did the same thing you did, I'm just not pretending to be a white knight.

This thread was as much a shitpost as any, except it doesn't seem like it was made for comedic sake. As is now, several edits later, it's just a strangely-formatted guide for the start of a playthrough, which is perfectly fine.

This isn't feedback, this is just arguing for the sake of it. As for knowing how to take feedback, I can do that just fine, when it actually applies. Defending my point isn't the same as not taking feedback.

but you probably wouldn't know about the forums until after you start
which is after you get past the first few quests, further then this guide
