The Untold Gap In The Playerbase

2 months ago, I quit WC and MC in general because of the community of Minecraft as a whole. I have still been watching the forums, and something was still very apparent and still is: the huge gap between new players and “veterans”. Obviously, having played Wynn for over 8 months, I can’t be objective here, but I feel I have enough evidence to suggest there is very little interaction between the 90% not represented on the forums and the 10% that are. To be a veteran here most of the time means you have been playing for multiple years and have lots of connections with high-ranking people like the item team and staff. They normally dictate all the changes, and have control over how the meta shifts, quests, ect. This is great, having old players balance the game is a good idea to make sure they know what they are doing, but this doesn’t take into account the other, much larger player base, that makes up the rest of the server. It is possible to take their opinions into consideration while keeping the balance of the game in check. Here are my solutions:


-take metrics of how people do with weapons and armor and balance somewhat off of that
-implement in-game surveys asking people how fun a level range/area is, and change as needed
-interact with more new players in general, and give them a chance, some are actually good people

You're definitely overstating the effect veterans have on the game. Nobody other than the item team and devs have an effect on the meta, and the quests are basically all up to the GMs. aReally, the players dont have much influence other than "This is bad," "This is broken," "This is actually broken," and so on.

More concrete surveys could be a useful addition though, for more direct feedback as opposed to word of mouth and rumours.

 

As ganon said, you are certainly overstating the influence veterans have on these decisions. The item team has full control and oversight of these things, and the influence veterans/players do have is limited more or less to complaints of things being too OP or too underpowered. Even then a lot of the time decisions are made solely based off what they want to do.

 

This would be a great idea if everyone in the community had extensive knowledge of the community, while I think that surveys are a cool idea there will always be a disparity between new players and veterans, although I do suggest making the forums more apparent in-game as this place is good for information + more connections with the community.

 

The Wynncraft team already does a good job of taking and using feedback. The item team is made up of players, there’s Selvut’s thread that’s dedicated to item making, Grian recently posted a feedback thread about Gavel, and there’s even a feedback thread...

There isn’t some conspiracy that all the donators secretly hate the rest of the player base and lock them out. More surveys can be good, but there isn’t a problem to begin with.

The most I’ve personally seen are people making jokes about non-donators in VIP Plaza. While some donators may fight non-donators, most aren’t like that.

 

I have seen and experienced people not helping others with dungeons/LI because they are not known. I have had people not share builds with others because they are known. I have seen people ignore others so many times in wc1detlas because they dont see their opinion as valid.

 

Remember, just because you have seen it, doesn't mean others have seen it too. It may have just been bad luck that you have spectated on these situations.

 

I think you may be exaggerating heavily or just confused on a lot of these points, though on the builds one, yes occasionally certain builds possibly well known people make aren't shared with others, but I doubt it's simply because you aren't a donor.

 

That just means you're in on the conspiracy

Seriously though, I have never experienced this anti-non-donator conspiracy, and I'm probably the most likely person to experience it, seeing how I'm an active member of Wynn with a relatively weak build, no mythics, and little to no LE

 

That can be applied to any situation regardless of donator rank. People in general sometimes don't want to help strangers because they are in the middle of something, or they get annoyed because they spam them. And if you looked in the news (or any online discussion board), people can get angry over any opinion such as gun control and Donald Trump. All of this isn't unique to donators or non-donators.

 

I understand, I just want to help new players feel like they belong more here. This isn't about me. Everyone has different experiences, and those were some of my more unfortunate ones.

 

Hey, so the Mod Team is always open for suggestions and feedback from new and old players, we usually even if we don't reply, discuss that thread and take actions (Sometimes you can't notice those), but if you think anything doesn't feel right about a mod/mod team feel free to quote me ^^

 

Everything is ok, I just want a positive discussion about how we can improve the gap between newer and older players here, and make wynn a better place.

 

being a veteran should have bonuses, as you stuck with the server. a good benefit would be having new players not spam you about free items or asking for help with a quest. we already have that. 90% of the well-known community got there without help. playing wynn solo helps you appreciate its difficulty more

Ice Bear says the rich players in wynncraft are actually bribing the staff and owners with LE (irony) to add new items and mythics so they can obtain it first and crush small shops. Ice Bear can not stand for this and we the players should take control of the staff and manipulate (irony) the staff to combat these EVIL monopolies.
