Welcome to the first Featured Wynncraftian Interview of the 5th season!

If you have been outside of the planet Earth for some years now and don't know what Featured Wynncraftian is, let me explain it.
We feature people from the community who have done something relevant or are somewhat interesting and peculiar. We interview those people here every 2 weeks!
They aren't always a popular member, they might be someone who we can do an interesting interview with.

Now, our Featured Wynncraftian of the week is Wynncraft's Community Manager, who has been here for almost 5 years...

He is the one and only @Pretzule!
Now, let's finish this introduction and begin the interview!

So let's start this Featured Wynncraftian interview with Pretzule! What made you start playing Wynncraft and join the team?

Back in the day I used to watch a channel called Crafted Movie. For a time I kind of dropped off from it and forgot about it. Some time passed when I stopped watching it and I was really into the idea of a first person MMORPG since I was also into RuneScape in the past.
The thing is I wanted to play a first person one since I felt that it would have given a more immersive and free experience than a third person one where you click to move and attack.

One day I stumbled across Crafted Movie again and started binging their videos, like you do. And I saw the trailer for Wynncraft. So being the master of foresight I am I jumped on as fast as possible and started playing.

Within my first few days I was interested in what was on the dev server so I decided I would try to get on it. Then the idea of moderators came about and the first two were promoted, I decided that was my goal so then I did what any normal person would do and become popular on the forums through offering advice, giving suggestions that were interesting, telling people to move their threads to the right place (old forums you can manually move your threads) as well as becoming friends with the current mods.
Over time the current mods decided they liked me and that I would be a good person, and during that time I've made a real connection with several members of the team and considered them decent friends.

So while my intentions and actions of wanting to be mod were kind of sketchy it kind of worked out in the end because I made actual friends with them and had some really great times.​

That is amazing! Oh, you are really close to some people in the Wynn community then. Let's talk a bit about you, so what do you during the week? Do you still study or do you work already?

Only a few I'm super close to, it's somewhat hard for me to meet new people.

My average week usually is work and school and then after all that I go and play games with my friends.
I currently work as an accountant part time so I manage the bills checks and the general finances.
For school I'm currently in my second year of college. I'm currently taking General Ed courses as I'm not completely sure what I want my major to be so I'm working on that as well.
As I mentioned afterwards I just tend to play games with my friends to unwind.
I honestly try to keep away from Wynn stuff nowadays since it is like another job and I would rather not kill myself from stress of it.

During the weekends I try my hardest to not do anything but I usually am roped into doing things with people.

But that's basically what I do during an average week.

You mentioned that you have to work, go to school, and still need some time to rest and have fun. How do you manage your time and everything that you have to do?

Work and school is usually during the day, so the nights I usually play games or do something to unwind.
Weekends I usually put plans with my friends above everything else.

You are a really big fan of Homestuck, what is the web comic about and who is your favorite character?

LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT HOMESTUCK!!!!

So it's this comic about 4 13 year olds that play this game where they can alter reality but it causes the destruction of Earth and that's about as much as I should say because spoilers and I might just go on for ages.

I hope it's obvious but I really like Jade, she's my favorite by far because of how happy she seems how quirky she is the fact that she could destroy someone with probably a flick of her finger but is too precious to do it.

My profile picture has been Jade ever since the end of Homestuck and my actual name color in most of my discords is her text typing color.


But she's the best and if you say otherwise I'll fight you.

Are there any proiects you've wanted to do on Wynncraft or on your life, but never got a chance to?

Imnotintocosplay.

I'm actually not quite sure, if there are then I don't really remember and it probably doesn't really matter anymore.
So I guess any project that I wanted to do but never did or got around to just kinda eventually became to mean not much to me.
If I'm gonna do a project might as well do it in one go if I'm motivated enough or do it for a while until it's done.

I also try not to do things that I know I can't do.

In the case of the Fair I thought it could get done, but unexpected things came up and it ended up not being quite there. So it just kind of fell off until hopefully it comes back later this year.

You are one of the most important Wynncraft members. In the name of the whole community, thank you for everything.

Did you ever expect Wynncraft to become such a huge server, so big that it is in the guiness book as the biggest MMO Rpg made on Minecraft! And going back to the past, did you expect to be such an important person in the community?

I never really kind of expected it to get to where it is now, no. I didn't really have many expectations for the server, I was mainly playing it to have fun ya know?

I didn't and I guess I still don't really see myself as an important person in the community. It's just kind of a strange thought to have for me I guess.

Yeah, there's a lot to do on Wynncraft and as you said that you were playing for fun, what is your favorite feature on Wynncraft and what do you think should change?

Ah it's hard for me to pick a favorite feature, but I do miss the swarms they were always nice for huge party's and mobs of people.

I think salted should bring back the old bow! (Not really)
I think there needs to be something other than grinding to help people level up, or other tasks that give the player more to do to make it feel like a real mmorpg.

Hopefully swarms will come back in the future with a less laggy version.

Wynncraft has had a lot of other changes and progress through the years, do you think there's been a general improvement/change on the community?

Personally it's a bit hard for me to tell sometimes. If you're in it every day it's hard to notice change. Only when you step back and look at it as a whole you can recognize true change.

I've been told that the community has grown to be better and it is better, so I just take their word for it as it is easier for people who view it from the outside to see a difference.

Do you think you will use what you learned being staff here on your life or will they be good memories of the past?

It can definitely be applied to life. Learning from how a team functions and how to run one as well as be a part of one is still helpful. The core of it is definitely a skill that is handy.

I don't usually tag people, bar my library, cause I feel awkward, but I think this message is going to be special, so what the heck.

WARNING. Wall of text incoming (what a shocker).

I'll 1st break down some parts of the interview I'd like to comment on.

RIGHT! Bar Skyrim, how many 1st person RPGs have you played? 0 for me, and I don't even know any which posses that kind of a feature. It's one of the reasons that makes Wynncraft so special.

It's kinda hard to show/explain that without coming of as a wannabe, isn't it? So many times I've seen people mention mini-modding on something that definitely wasn't, even a couple of years ago, when people just wanted to help others. Even if your goal is "sketchy", why is that necessarily a bad thing? Reflecting on everything you did, you wanting to be something more definitely payed off and your promotion was definitely more than just deserved. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be something more in a community you care about.

Energy engineering
I hear people who take engineering, especially regarding energy, can flex better than others. And are like, super hot and whatnot.
Sure you won't sleep for 4 years due to thermodynamics, but it's worth it...kinda...not really.

Jokes aside, I hope you are doing well regarding college. Not sure what exactly general ed is, but I hope you find something you love doing.

Yea, I get that too. You can take so much of a particular thing before you get over-saturated. It's like having a girlfriend who attends the same college and then asks you to study with her. Yea, plz no, thank you.

I didn't yet read what Pretzule wrote, but YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES. SO. MUCH. CHANGES/IMPROVEMENTS.

Yep. I really don't want to start explaining that more deeply, but it's true. I really appreciate how you have influenced/started the changes.

I left this part for last because I wanna comment on it and add something extra, a bit of a flavor to the whole message if you wish.

I won't talk on behalf of the community, but I will speak for myself, and in my name, thank you.

Can I tell you a story? Miniclip was my 1st forum ever. When I joined I didn't know jackcrap about forums. I was a spammer, heavy one. I had no friends and most people disliked me. I was clueless on everything. There was a guy named Dwee who had incredible tolerance towards me. One night, we both got depressed, talked to each other and kinda lifted each other's spirit. That happened over 10 years ago, and to this day, I still remember it.

Why am I telling you this?

You are Dwee of my 20's. You probably don't even realize how much you have helped me both on and off forums. Engineering is hard, I was depressed a lot, my spirit was down, I felt like shit for a long time. You did some things that lifted my spirit at times which helped me push further. It may have not been a huge impact, but definitely something I felt, something that helped me relax on occasions, recollect my thoughts and continue with my struggles. I'll always remember that.

So, thank you, for everything you did for me. If you didn't, who knows if I would be in this situation, both on forums and IRL.

Honestly, you are the mod I feel closest to due to everything and I consider you my friend. I know you have other friends too, but if you ever need to talk to someone, I'm here.
