Wynncraft Map With All Potatoes

Hello everyone,

With the recent potato hunt we found lots of potatos. After they started pointing to a specific region @Jensiwaa and I decided to Map out all potatoes we could find, in total there are about 350 potatoes!

Some statistics: Almost all territories have exactly one potato, there are some exceptions like Llevigar Entrance,
Cinfras Entrance
or Quartz Mines North East and some regions we could not find any potatoes yet like Quartz Mines North West. So we expect there is some intention behind this.

As you all probably noticed, most potatoes point towards the other side of the map. We wanted to see if there were some potatoes that did not point to the other side and thus would possibly have some other clue. After looking at the map it was clear they point to a region to cross Selchar ( or point to exactly the opposite direction like the potatoes on Zhight Island, Dead Island North West, Dead Island South West or Dead Island South East)

We also found some placed that looked like they should have a potato but did not, there was a sealantern without any potato.

You might see some pink points that have no connecting line, this is because the region they point to is not in the list we can get from the Wynn API This is for example the case for potatoes on corkus island that point to regular island

Since we could not find an up-to-date 2d map of the wynncraft map we(mostly jensiwaa) made an updated one

So the image in the puzzle/that new city thing is going to be in Selchar? idk

 

You really ought to give credit to those who mapped the pink dots in the first place. I understand you drew the connecting lines, but there were others (me, SaltyStranger and gilles353) that actually found the coordinates of every potato and started laying the pink dots on the map.

Anyway, credits aside, your conclusion of finding that they all cross over Selchar was already discovered and assumed very early on, and that's how we found the Selchar potato was the start of the potato sisters puzzle. I don't think these lines really have any purpose other than to lead us to Selchar to start said potato sisters puzzle, which has been solved.

 

To clear this up: Jensiwaa and i used Journeymap to make waypoints at all these locations we only did this by looking around ingame, we did not use any other sources for finding these. I made a python script to look up the location of the territory and plot them on the backgroud (which we also made ourself using journeymap and GIMP). I know other have found potatoes as well but we did get all the data for this ourself.

We started with collecting the locations last week when the hunt was not yet solved. We thought the potatoes might have some deeper meaning with them looking at them in some kind of path. Whilst gathering data for our map we also saw that it was pretty obvious that we needed to go to Selchar. We still finished the map since we saw it as a nice little project to do.

 

I just thought it was interesting how you decided to use pink dots just like I had when I first started plotting them in Photoshop. On the same top-down map, too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Are you in the discord? As a collective in the discord we created a google form to collect the coordinates from all across the map and that's what I used to start labeling them.

 

I did find some picture on the forums here from very early on where i saw pink dots used, but it was missing large sections and also it was missing the directions of the potatoes (which are quite important). The pink dots had a good contrast to the background so i decided to reuse them as well.
We started with collecting the points in a shared spreadsheet but later switched to the waypoints. I know others were probably also collecting the locations but we did it seperatly. I myself do not use the discord so I had no clue about the progress on discord (i did look around the forum a bit)

Initially we wanted to use the map file that is included in Wynncraft worlmap mod. This one looked similar to the other picture i saw somewhere on the forums. but we noticed it was outdated. Yes it included new regions like corkus but some other areas were not updated since the roads in ragni looked different.

How many potatoes did you find in total, maybe you found some we missed or the other way around
and did you plot them all by hand, I could not get it in my head to plot ~350 of them, especially since we wanted the lines

Very cool the way you utilized a minimap mod for more accuracy and to draw the lines though.

 

I can see that our map has more points in most places but still you might have some that we do not

If you had some form to collect the points can you not look back there to see the list of potatoes?

Quite a decent list but some of them do look like they are not completly real

 

k so
the reason some coords are jacked up is that
the light realm is physically not on the map but has territories
1, 1 is also real just go there on the map

but on a sidenote they all pass through selchar and I think that was what we had to do first lol

 

1,1 was in the list multiple times, it looked kinda fishy. With it also being outside of the normal map area we did not look there. We did not expect there to be any potatoes in those areas outside of the main map.
