the rebirth thread finally exists, assuming anyone here plays it other than me

for those unaware of what boi: rebirth is, the wikipedia page will tell you plenty enough. it's #9 on steam250, so if you haven't played it i highly recommend you do so.

this thread is for general discussion of rebirth, its two official DLCs, afterbirth and afterbirth+, and the unofficial fanmade expansion, antibirth.

feel free to share seeds and screenshots, discuss game mechanics, mods, anything related to this game. hell, you could even talk about the soundtracks if you really wanted to (go listen to those too, btw).

What even is Binding of Isaac? I've heard people mention it as both good (you among others) and bad, although it might be a different one as the colon and word implies it's a sequel.

Anyway, I would say it's the best rogue like I've ever played. The whole atmosphere and premise was a bit disturbing at first, but after I got past that it had a lot of meat on its bones. The RNG can be somewhat of an ass sometimes though. Sometimes I die in the basement, while other times I literally cannot die because of Brimstone or that one reusable item that grants soul hearts. I never played the original, but from what I've seen it's way behind Rebirth.

This is just my opinion, but I liked Antibirth way better than Afterbirth and Afterbirth+. Everything Afterbirth & + does, Antibirth does better and then some. Take for instance the new flooded levels in each expansion. In Afterbirth, it's basically the caves/basement except it's colored blue, and there are like two variations on pre-existing enemies. Sure the bosses are cool (except for in Afterbirth+), but they aren't specific to the flooded basement so they don't really add that much to the place specifically. In Antibirth, you have awesome music, a new atheistic that complements the atmosphere, and most of all, new mechanics. You can see your reflection in the water, zombies pop out of the water, ghosts pick up buckets and throw them at you, and there are better bosses. Speaking of bosses, each boss in Antibirth is top notch and unique in it's own right, even those that are based off of existing bosses. They fit the theme of their floors more nicely than Afterbirth's bosses. My personal favorite places in Antibirth are the mines and the psychic realm. The best part of these parallel new levels in Antibirth is that they are optional, so if you don't want to explore them on your run, then you don't have to.

Besides that, I haven't beaten the Lost, nor will I ever.

Wtf are Super special rocks?

Also I'm assuming "Rerun" is like the Cap item that restarts the floor, but this takes you back to the basement/cellar/burning basement.

 

Rerun allows you to replay games like victory laps, but without having to go to the dark room to do so.

No idea what super special rocks are tho.

 

super special rocks are rocks that drop the contents of two tinted rocks; they're much harder to spot

to unlock them you have to get a 5-win streak with a different character for each win
