Secret Seaskipper Location?

So in the screenshot below, you can see that the seaskipper captain says that he can take you to any place with a map. I'm wondering what would happen if you were to throw a map from the galleon's graveyard quest into the hopper.

Gateaway island is apart of a quest.

 

Nothing happens, it only accepts boat passes.

 

Why would they code this? Seems pretty pointless to send people to a quest area outside of the way you get there in the quest. It also doesn't make a lot of sense. The map shows three islands in the middle of a featureless ocean. If the captain doesn't already know these islands, how would he have any bearing on the map?

The point he's making there is that Gateway Island, part of the quest Fantastic Voyage, is not on any of the maps he has, so he doesn't know how to get there. That's all. It's just one line of text, don't read too much into it.

He probably meant the maps as in map.wynncraft.com
Like he used to say that Corkus wasn't on the maps, until the map was updated and so was the dialogue.
