Meteor Shard Near Bucie

When I was doing the Iron Heart Part 1, I saw a meteor with some shards next to it

It actually dropped some meteor shards, but I don't think there is any use for it

I don't know what they means, but is it something in the ??? quest (I do think it is for the old ??? quest, but it was removed and as a result there isn't any use)

 

It was originally used for the old ??? quest but that got changed and now the shards pose no use. If you do collect all 3 shards and throw them into the hopper outside the big white meteor, it will display an error message saying "nice try" or something along those lines.

 

I guess it's either from the old ??? quest or a red herring from the new ??? quest, there were quite a few false clues.

 

I'm pretty sure you can't get 3rd meteor shard anymore.

 

I think this is a false rumor, because I already saw a message like that some months ago, so I tried to collect them all, and it was still possible. ^^
