Did you find the sandcastle above their base, property of Randall Inskile?

Reverse Inskile, and you get Eliksni, the name of a species of alien from Destiny, more commonly known as The Fallen. In the earlier betas of Destiny, these were pretty much all there was to fight, Dregs, Vandals, Shanks(I think) and Fallen Walkers. In one corner of the map, there was an "Elite" Vandal. Elites usually had more health and dropped more loot, but this Vandal was ridiculously endurant for absolutely no reason at all. He became known collectively among the community as Randal the Vandal.

Later, in a raid involving the Fallen and some kind of parasitic cybernetic implant, you meet a Fallen Vandal miniboss called "Rahn'dell, the Perfected".

Hence, Randall the leader of the Sandstorm Vandals.

If I got these details wrong, it's cause I only ever saw my older brother play Destiny rather than having done so myself.

He has 72000 health, which is 20 times the amount he should have, but his damage is only tough-strength and his Multihits does at best 165% damage. 165% of his 100-130 damage is 165-215. You also forgot to mention he drops a piece of the Bandit's Set, the locket. And, look at the actual stats on Randall's Leg Plating. That +15 defense WITHOUT A STAR, lenient requirement, and high health. Then, look at Vandalizer with its huge life steal for the level. Combining those will make you a massive tank, just like Randall.

He also mentions, in the forge room, that making this invincible armour is part of his grand plan to pull a heist on the Almuj Bank; he plans to make armour so powerful that they can pretty much just walk right in and the Emerald Golems couldn't do anything to them.

I am absolutely flabbergasted that it took this long for someone to comment on this!

Corrupted Witherhead's is meant to be a substitute for az, since az is a mythic after all. However, doing underworld crypt 6 times for abolition isn't that hard, and abolition does more damage, with vandalizer only having 9 more max lifesteal.

My god, that's just perfect. I am fan of Destiny, and I haven't noticed this small detail when I got to that part in the quest!
