i mean, imagine a somebody claiming your home because "my ancestors lived here 2000 years ago" and you had to leave.

 

No one had to leave.
And a large part of the Israeli claim is a legal claim

okay, but the excuse that is often made about "we were here 2000 years ago" is still dumb.

 

The full form of that claim is "we were the last independent state in the area" or "there was nothing in the region since the Jews left/until they returned" (see Mark Twain's and Voltaire's writings about the visit to the region under Ottoman rule.

Yea, and also a big part of why it's hard to solve this conflict is because it's not a text book case. You have two sides, both of them are right but they don't want a single state solution

 

So what are some solutions people have suggested and what are the pros and cons of each?

 

There are four solutions
A single state solution - everyone will leave together in a democratic state with equal rights.
Pros:
everyone can access all the sites without having to give up on anything.
Cons:
Will Gaza be a part of the new country?
The Palestinians will be the weakest party of society.
Will Palestinians get a right of return?
The PLO is claiming to try to work for a two state solution but in reality doesn't want an end to the conflict.

A two state solution - a Jewish state and a Palestinian state. Working together for a better future.
Pros:
Everyone can still live everywhere
Both sides get an independent state.
Cons:
How will the territory be split up
Will the Palestinians get a right of return
What will happen with Jerusalem
How will the new Palestinian state prevent terror organizations from taking control (see Gaza at 2005)
If the Palestinians get the West Bank they have a 8km bottle neck on Israel right on the only international airport in the country.

Cases three and four are going to war and completely killing the other side.

 

I guess the one state solution is the best option. They might have to reconfigure the legislature in order to give the Palestinians a bigger say since they are a minority.

 

The way it works here is that if you have a government facility it has to have a certain percentage of minorities

 

Do you mean that in order for any town or city to have a legitimate government, it has to have a certain percentage of Palestinians?

 

Towns or cities have city council members which are chosen by the city residents so they represent the population in the city rather well
