Would it be good or bad for in-game item buyers to buy legionaries and whatnot with relatively known prices (based on current economy) so that they are much much closer to the actual selling price? Just feel like it could be a good idea, but was wondering what other people think.

This would be a good step towards shifting from item inflation (too many good items) to emerald inflation (too many emeralds), which might be easier to fix, but it could also kill the player market so meh.

What would the point of trading with players be if you could get the same amount of emeralds from an item buyer except if you wanted to scam them. Plus Wynncraft’s playerbase isn’t big enough to have a stable market price, so it can vary quite a bit. Though the biggest problem is that the buyers would have to be constantly updated.

Maybe create some system to get feedback from players (whether directly or indirectly idk) to update automatically, although I highly doubt that could work.
Player market is interesting. Just make it ignore ID's so players only try to sell items with actually good IDs?

You could try and calculate sell price by getting normal player prices, then make it 0.75 the normal player prices, so that people are encouraged to use the trade market, but still have a less profitable, but less completely useless option.

Can you put more detail into it and make it a general suggestion? I would love to see it there.

    Imagine a slider.

    Emerald |-------------------[=]-------------------| Item

This visualizes the Emerald inflation VS Item inflation.

    Emerald |---------------------------------[=]-----| Item

Let's shift the slider to the right. Items are worth much less because of their high supply, meaning people will sell items for less emeralds as they are less needed. This makes emeralds worth more, but items worth less.

    Emerald |-----[=]---------------------------------| Item

Now let's shift it to the right. Item Buyers now have a standard for selling items. This means more emeralds are in rotation, and item prices are driven up to beat the buyer prices. Emeralds are worth a lot less, but items are worth a lot more.

Right now, I'd say the economy is here:

    Emerald |----------------------------[=]----------| Item

About 75%, tilted towards the Item, as loot bonus and loot runs have made items heavily available, with only a few high-demand items being expensive. If we want it at the middle, we need to drive item prices up and emerald prices down, but smart item buyers won't fix it, as the prices would constantly rise. It would destroy the player-to-player economy, damaging the tight trade community; it will just invert the problem.

Alright, although I don’t perfectly understand what you said, the general vibe I’m getting is that smarter villagers are bad for economy cause they won’t help the insane inflation and will kill player market. How would you do it?

The game needs more money sinks (not named guilds or horse breeding) to counteract the inflation of items and emeralds.

Some system needs to be implemented that takes emeralds from players and gives them something else in return that isn't of market value, so that there is a net loss.

Since items and emeralds come from nothing, to nothing they must return.
