SPOILER Craftsmas Chaos And The Corrupted Dungeons

So here are a few connections I just made.

The player gives Santa a shard that essentially causes him to go insane and destroy Selchar in about 30 years. The style of corrupted Selchar is similar to that of the corrupted dungeons.

What if Santa goes crazy and destroys the whole world, leading to the corrupted dungeons?

Tell me if I'm wrong, or if you know something I don't.

I found some more information on this topic. Santa doesn't destroy Selchar in 30 years - he destroys it in 10.
After defeating Santa, Old Tom says: "Did you do it? Santa is dead? Oh God, I can't believe it. He is gone, just like that. After 20 or so years of torment.."

 

It's possible, but not plausible. We know from the dialogue in the corrupted underworld crypt that SOMETHING in the future caused widespread corruption, but we also know that the general from the original dungeon is still patrolling the crypt when it happens. So unless Santa happens to go corrupt earlier than 30 years in the future, or the general/people age slower, it isn't likely.

 

I read through the quest again, and I found something that suggests that it happened many years earlier.
After you kill Santa, Old Tom says "Did you do it? Santa is dead? Oh God, I can't believe it. He is gone, just like that. After 20 or so years of torment.."

 

We have absolutely no reason to believe this is actually what happens. Who knows what the corrupted gates are, who works the Forgery, what it even is or what the corrupted dungeons even are. It could be a vision, an alternate reality, a prediction or prophecy or anything else. We simply don't have enough lore to say this is what actually happens in Wynn's future.

 

Well, the Underworld Crypt is based off of the Greek afterlife. According to wikipedia, the concept of time doesn't exist for the spirits and heroes going in there.

 

That moment when you realize that fucking Santa Claus might be integral to Wynn's lore

It's confirmed to be the future, not a mirrored world.

 

Could it be an alternate future, with our timeline being one whose future is different?

 

Possibly. We'll need to get the rest of the corrupted dungeons, so we can (hopefully) learn more about the runes needed for corrupted keys and their role in the story.
