Incorporeal Undead In Wynn

I could've sworn Eye of the Storm was basically considered non-canon by the GMs and is only still there because removing quests is a bit iffy but sounds interesting nonetheless

So I'm currently on Skein's island. I realized I never have actually been there since it was updated. I forgot it has ACTUAL mobs on it.

But still, what bothers me is that they are never called "Zombie Footsoldier" or "Skeleton Bowman" or "Undead Bomber". Just, "Skein's whatever".

Yes, they are zombies and skeletons, but the orcs in gavel are too (but with a custom head), and the cave trolls are too (and they don't even use a custom head)

So I'm still unsure if the game actually intends on them being undead or not

 

Because Skien raised and controlled them, they're his possessions, if I'm remembering correctly?

 

I just finished it.

I was wrong.

The inhabitants of Skein's island do appear to be undead. It even says how they "turned".

It's Skein himself who died and came back to life, but not as an undead. But the undead on the island don't attack him, and he doesn't know why...

And somehow the Traitor who Troms's ghost is involved.

And the Traitor ghost kind of looks like the Nii from Gavel, but that's a connection I don't feel like making so I'll call that a coincidence (also because the Nii are mysterious enough as it is)

 

What about Bob in the reincarnation quest? Does that instance count?

 

I can't believe I missed that. But now that I think about it, that does have a possible explination

 

If Bob is actually dead.

 

The GMs did try to change the dialogs to make to make that quest better and maybe added some lore connections with it during the Gameplay or the Christmas Update or something.

 

Oh, boy, don't even get me started on that.

But, if we assume that he is in fact dead, then the numbers start to add up (with the exception of, of course, a fake head)

 

That corpse from Bob's Lost Soul is the fake one set up by Nirlem, but I doubt the actuall boss from Reincarnation is fake, because it is really powerful and has some sort of real treasure, and you need to get actual items from Bob's animals.

I actually do think that Bob is alive and has finished his reincarnation when you, the player, has given him all three items of his power that he has divided right before death.

 

So idk if you are familiar with this bit, but here's what I think when I hear someone mention bob being alive:

A long time ago (before the wipe) there was some theory about Bob being alive but hiding in Gavel. I've never seen the theory, so I can't judge it, but one of the things in the comments was "oh, if he's alive, why is he in Gavel?" and someone commented to that "maybe he doesn't want to be found". And then, one of the top guys (I think it was Salted) gave a very cryptic answer in response to that: "maybe you don't want to find him..."

That little one sentence from a long-gone comment on a long-gone theory from (I think) Salted is the only real piece of evidence that Bob is still alive

 

Huh.. I wasn't on the forums by then, but that's really interesting.
The other thought I had is that if he's alive Bob traveled to Gavel under the name Siegfred. How the villagers describe him is pretty similar to Bob, and they never say that he's a villager. Also for such a popular hero there is absolutely no paintings around, and all of his head figures are stolen. Just a thought though, I am don't really know a lot about all the lore for someone who stole your name.

Yeah but Siegfried is a glory hog and as far as we know, Bob wasn’t. If sieg really is bob then why the dramatic personality change?
It’s possible (If sieg really is bob) that he didn’t want to be found (as possibly hinted at by Salted) so he distanced himself pretty far from his previous personality.

 

I mean we are talking about a land where memories from the past can be walked in and experienced like real life (Taproot, Haven Antiquity, Memory Paranoia) and we DO know you can die in those, so maybe it's something along those lines; his corrupted memories are so powerful they manifest

 

The thing about Siegfred is his personality. And a few facts. Firstly, Siegfred is shown to be very proud. He has a fan club, all this merchandise, etc. Bob was never like that, he was a man of the people. If just doesn't line up.

Secondly, Bob disappeared at age 74 or whatever. Too old to become a new hero in Gavel.

Thirdly, Someone actually accidentally glitched something while killing some mob and ended up with the mob's head. It was called Siegfred_Head or something and had a big mustache. But, more importantly, it wasn't grey skinned. IDK where the source for this bit is tho.

IMO since no one has seen Siegfred actually do anything, only stories, I would say he's just some Bob-inspired faker.

Not bad thinking. Especially with the coloration of the ghost. But something else still doesn't seem right...

 

Also, Siegfried is thought to be from Corkus, as the soldiers mention him coming from there

Do you have the exact quote? I don't recall that, so I would like to see the wording before I make decisions on it.
