What is your stance?

  1. Minecraft is infinite, and generally flat (You get to bedrock and thats it. It has no true end.)

  2. Minecraft has a border... and thats as far as you can go. It is also generally flat.

  3. Minecraft has a semi-spherical shape. No borders. Similar to Earth, just more block-y.

You see, it is commonly believed that the world of minecraft is visualized as a cube.
    But I propose four possibilities:
    1. Minecraft is infinite, and generally flat (You get to bedrock and that's it. It has no end.)
    2. Minecraft has a border... and that's as far as you can go. It is also generally flat.
    3. Minecraft has a semi-spherical shape. No borders. Similar to Earth, just more block-y.
    4. Minecraft is just one giant cube with hills, mountains, etc.

    Rules of thinking:
    • This is for P.C. Minecraft only. Console and P.E. editions are excluded. (I.E., console version has borders. P.C. edition doesn't... from what we know.)
    • I am considering the Nether to be a whole new dimension/universe/other, rather than a part of the world.
    • This is a debate! Dont argue, and use evidence to prove your point.
    • Explain your reasoning.
    • Feel free to have us consider a new possibility! Think outside the box!
    • Have fun!

    Minecraft is flat and infinite.

The hard border stops at around 3 million blocks (iirc) from the spawn point in either X or Z direction. But if you manage to travel there and look past the border, you can see that terrain continues to generate but you can’t physically get there. From this, we assume that the world is infinite but we are only confined within a ‘small’ space of 3,000,000 x 3,000,000 blocks.

Underneath the bedrock layer in the Overworld is the Nether/Hell dimension(since the roof of the Nether is bedrock too). The Nether is also an infinitely-generating dimension. But remember, 1 block traveled in the Nether is 16 blocks traveled in the Overworld. Assuming we travel 3,000,000 blocks in the Nether which is also the hard border of the Overworld, we would be 48 million blocks away from the spawn when we teleport back to the Overworld. That’s 45 million blocks past the world border! I do not know if this has been tested but this is an assumption. Hence, the world can’t be cubic or semi-spherical since we have not found a point where the world flips 90 degrees to form a bent plane.

So we can only assume the world is flat, and infinite.

Flat and infinite if you ask me.
I'd love to see more complex procedural generation in the future though. But sadly, I don't think that's gonna be happening anytime soon with the way Minecraft is headed.

Minecraft has a border. This border is before 1.8 × 10^308, since that is the biggest number you can store in 64 bits.

Didn't Game Theory do a video on this a few years back saying that the Minecraft world can't be a cube because of gravity shit?

Yeah, but that’s game theory though, and we can physically in game prove that it’s not round. Or at least in all practical purposes.

However, his gravity argument doesn’t hold up because there is no gravity in minecraft. You see, gravity is a force and all forces comprise of a mass and a acceleration (Hence F=ma) In minecraft, although you do fall down, you don’t accelerate downwards. You only fall at a constant speed. This is why in the real world it’s easier to catch a ball a second after you release it versus someone else below you catching that same ball 4 seconds after you released it. The ball has different speeds at different points in the fall. Therefore, because there is no acceleration, the “gravity” in minecraft is not a force and conventional physics don’t apply.
