How Does One Use Boats?

I don't mean the SeaSail pass boats, I mean the little regular boats that you buy for a couple of emerald blocks.
I want to know their functions, because they apparently sink pretty easily. I would like some assistance as to how to be a professional sailor.






Like, come on! 2 emerald blocks for some useless emerald-bait item?

 

Use 1.9, in 1.11 the boats are glitched I think. Should work in 1.9 .

Just play in 1.8 that version has the least bugs.

2) I tried, boats still do the weird thing. PATCH PATCH PATCH.

My best advice would be to go back to 1.9, as stated above. 1.9.4 seems to work best for me :/

 

Weird. Last time I used boats I was using 1.9.4 and it worked fine.

 

try 1.8.9

 

besides chunk updating, I've found that 1.10 works the best for sailing in a boat. 1.12 seems to make the boats sink and you actually start drowning, which isn't fun.

 

I tried 1.8.9 and of course it works.
I'm one of those people who don't like it when servers are base-version of non-latest versions. Why? Because think of all the things they can do with the new stuff, and also I won't have access to them. Colon Open-Bracket.
