Well, this isn’t exactly challenging your math, but more based around a different way of calculating. The idea is that it’s more based around the chance of getting your result after Breeding then breeding your result if it’s a fail. So, say you have 3 horses. You breed 2 of them, for a 20% chance of success. Then if you fail, you breed your 3rd horse with the result of the 1st and 2nd horses, which has an additional 20% chance of success. Thus with 3 horses you have a 4 out of 12 chance of success, as there is 4 results with success, from the first 2 horses along with the 2nd breeding attempt, and the 12 comes from having the 2 successes at first where you won’t go to the next level, then the next level will have an additional 10 results. So this math maximizes use of the excess horses, inputting one at a time into the breeding as the chances approach 100% (goes from 2 out of 10 with 2 horses to 4 out of 12 with 3 horses, to 6 out of 14 with 4 horses, and so on). I’m not sure if this would change the prices for better or worse, as the chances of degrade makes the Math even more complicated, but I used this to calculate whether or not I should risk my luck on getting a black horse at first, or just buy it from a player.

There. You have 3 horses to start, horses a, b, and d. When you breed horses a and b, you can win with 20% chance or move to the next bracket and roll for 20% chance again by breeding the result of a and b, horse c, with your 4th horse, horse d. It'll be a bracket based system where each additional horse lets you roll the 20% again with the result of the previous horses.

 

Oh, it's the same as what I've done.
I used 10 horses (5 operations) as it's easier to both calculate and explain.
