I Have A Question About Life-steal.

I have heard a lot of people say that they don't want to talk about life steal like it is a bad thing. I don't get why. Can some explain? Is it because it only has a chance to proc? IMO if Life-Steal procced every hit it would be really broken especially with fast attacking weapons like Rewind. (I know not the fastest attacking weapon but its still fast.) I am level 80 trying to get an 80-90 lvl Life-Steal/Poison build. And it has been pretty good so far. I haven't had many problems with it. And it has kept me alive in a dungeon or quest or boss alter where i am swarmed by enemies. Perfect example Olux Plague Doctor. He was one of the easiest if not the easiest to beat for me and i was 3-4 levels lower than him. It may be because he is an easy boss to begin with or it may be the fact that there are so many locusts that life-steal+Smoke bomb kept me at practically full health the entire fight. I don't get the problem with Life-Steal. Or am i going at this the completely wrong way and people think it is OP? IDK and i would appreciate some explanation. Thanks :)

 

Life-steal isn't liked that much because it only activates on melee hits. On spell hits, life-steal doesn't work.

This is a balance thing, and I can understand, but it really kicks life steal into the dirt

 

Really, it seems like it procs when i use smoke bomb. Is it because of my poison stat?

 

Poison and life steal work differently. Poison is damage over time, while life steal is a one-hit thing. Smoke bomb and poison work well, so yeah, it's your poison.

 

Okay, I get what people mean then. It should be able to proc on spell hits. Even then i find it quite useful, I have a level 80 assassin built on Life-Steal/Poison. I guess it's just me.

To put it simply, life steal is incredibly abusive.

Lifesteal prots on explosion, it also activates on bomb arrow/war scream too when it should not.

Abusive? Also why shoudn't it proc on explosion, bomb arrow, or war scream? (I haven't played much of archer or any other class.)

 

Well exploding would allow you to constantly trigger it with stacking effects with each mob hit, same for spells. Just look at how unkillable a non-abusive Apoc warrior already is, imagine what war scream + ls or exploding + ls would do.
