Recommendations.
Some of these shows I haven't watched, some I have.

Code Geass - the writing kinda falls apart in the middle of the second season (most likely due to the fact that it was supposed to be 50 episodes but is actually 25), but the first season is fantastic and the ending (of the series) is great.
There is a season 3 coming out, but it kinda shits on season 2's ending, so..

Fullmetal Alchemist/Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (will be referring to both as FMA)
Brotherhood is basically a remake of the original, and is started as if you are aware of the premise. I'd recommend watching the first few episodes of the original, then moving on to Brotherhood.

Hunter x Hunter (2011) - a shounen battle anime that subverts your expectations and turns wonderfully dark. On that note, you should also watch Yu Yu Hakusho, a show (originally a manga) by the same author (Yoshihiro Togashi).

If I was normal I would be WTFing myself out right now.
However, I can say I am not surprised and have seen weirder.

Not saying this is the weirdest, I just remember it. ^^^^

 

Tales of the Abyss is a really good anime. Another (that's the name) is also really good if you like gory content. Higarashi is really twisted. Charlotte is another good one. Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku is really cool. I won't say anything about it, just so you can have some surprises.

 

I see too many mainstream anime that are being recommended. Don't get me wrong, watch them, but after you do, don't go overboard on *This is the best show, watch it.* As of now I'm not really going to recommend any shows because most (not all) mainstream and popular animes have been recommended. If anything you watch, I'd say watch seasonal anime. It gives new shows and stuff, and from what I've seen, this season is going to be great. Last season was great, and previous too, but anime is to enjoy. (Really quickly in my opinion, sao is bad, buy enjoyable. If you want to turn off your brain and enjoy, watch part 1 of season 1. Then it gets bad. The movie was cool, but yea.. )

 

I honestly haven't seen the movie because I've gotten bored of the whole series. Arc 1 was the only good thing and then we went into incest arc followed by guns (haha guns in sword art online hahahahaha kms) arc. I haven't finished up the summer season anime (Ep 9 or 10 of Tsurezure children and Gamers!) but it was looking good so far. I don't like watching anime the season that it comes out because I can't stand to wait a whole week (or longer) for the next episode, so I usually start watching something else (and binge it) in the meantime. You should recommend me some so I can add onto my to-watch list :). I'll watch any genre.

 

Uh... I have many recommendations, but I can't give them right now. What I did with this season is that I watched a bunch of shows. I'll try to recommend the shows later, but atm I can't.
