At request of people in the discord - I have decided to make a debate thread of subjects in Wynncraft that have varying opinions. Feel free to share yours.

Current debate: The current state of the economy - is it easy to get scammed? Do mythics cost too much/too little? Are certain items too expensive? What causes this? (yes you may expand this topic).

    Without a doubt, yes.
    Yes.
Yes. Not just mythics, anything "meta" is worth exponentially more. And put a mythic tag on it and its literally worth 64x as it should be.
Inflation, buffs/nerfs and the way the average human thinks.

Whenever I visit the trade market: "I don't have money to buy any of this- oh look a rare item, maybe I have enough- oh no, nevermind." So I do think that some items are too expensive for their rarity, and that is caused by inflation. Mythics are so rare that you either consider yourself lucky enough to find one or rich enough to buy one. If you happen to be neither then the game offers a variety of weapons that can finish bosses (etc.) well enough, but mythics have those special stats that make them a lot more wanted than the regular items.

In an perfect world, I would hope to have a set and specific price for each item (and perhaps some other forms of money sinks other than the trade market, since all that causes is inflation, in order to keep the economy stabilized), but that requires too much work and in the end no real way for everyone to abide by those prices.

Too little is out of the question. Too much, it depends.
For starters, they are the top weapon options. They are heavily luck based and have a reduced chance to drop. In a way, they justify why they are so expensive, but at the same time, price different between e.g. gale and strati doesn't change the performance as much as the price would suggest.
Reason exist why they cost so much, but they do cost too much.
    For Mythics:
    • rarity
    • demand
    • substitutes are relatively much weaker. Also the true substitutes don't actually exist. There isn't an option to not be able to buy a mythic and then go grind for an equally strong weapon as a substitute.
    • RNG based instead of skill based
    • inflation due to duping/time passed
    • meta (either pure meta or meta being influenced by bugs, e.g. apoc)
    For Legends:
    • meta and roll. They aren't as rare, but getting a particular roll or roll combo can be hard(er).
    • demand
    Piss poor.

Having a civilized debate on a topic without insulting the other person is absolutely fine.
It's only against the rules if people decide to not debate but attack the other person.

game economy was bound to fail tbh. I don't know if gms/admins pay much attention to it, though they did make the horse breeding money sink, but we all know where that ended. then mythics came along and now everyone who try hard grinds can make money or anyone who is lucky. I know the "reward for playing" thing seems to be the idea, but finding mythics appears to require more luck than dedication. now you can really only participate in the market with mythics, chestnut+ horses, or finding great/godly endgame items. there is no economy for early/mid levels because people level too fast then, and often speed level with xp gear/quests, making in near impossible for new players to make money early on.

thats just everything that came to my mind idk

edit - to actually speak on topic, scamming isnt easy if the person youre dealing with isnt a vegetable. mythics are expensive as fuck just because of their demand and the fact that the rich people can afford to spend 10 to 20 stacks on the decent ones making any average players offer look like a joke.

The only thing you have to do to earn money is rush quests and get classes to level 100 very quickly; 90le per class, two classes per month. After 5 months you'll have ~14 stacks. Easy and doesn't rely on RNGesus.

exactly, that's why this should be fixed and why someone has to say that mythics and no money sinks aren't, by far, the only problem this game has '-'

by the way I never said I exploit this thing (but I kind of do, since simply playing this game is what causes this exploit)

What an amazing topic this is turning out to be. Really enjoy reading the replies.

I love this reply, it's like you read my mind. I'd just like to add a few things.

Horse breeding is dead. There is no reason to breed whites anymore. IMAGINE if white was untradeable. It would be a status to own it, and every player who'd have one would need to spend 2 stacks of LE to acquire one in the process. That's 2 stacks less in the game per white, it's not an amazing money sink, but it's something. Also kills the reason to dupe it, and if duping does occur, it affects market a lot less. Nowadays you can buy one for 70-90 LE depending on the level. If buying from market isn't enough of a reason to not breed the horses, then mythics certainly are. Why would anyone spend anymore money than they actually have to when they can use that money to buy mythics!?

I am not sure who came to idea "Hey, let's make the absolute best gear in the game heavily RNG based" and thought it was a smart game design.
Obtaining a mythic takes no skill, only luck, too much for an RPG game. In this game, all of the absolute best weapons are heavily RNG based. Give me 1 good RPG game where that's exactly the case (Not you Willi, I'm talking in general). Wait, there is none? Some of the weapons may be heavily luck based but others can be acquired fairly easy via grinding!? *gasp* An RPG that rewards your dedication, wow, what a shocker. Imagine if you could invest 250 hours into Wynncraft completing a certain task so you earn your very own e.g. 4/4 spring. Imagine being reward for grinding in this game.

The anti-grinding mentality has been in the game for years. It's because it never was rewarding, never. Why grind for something when you can do loot runs to acquire a lot more in the process? If I grinded in the DC cave, I could get like 3-4 blocks while doing loot runs can give me a several lvl 4 powders in 20 min. That's like 2 LE without counting the gear obtained in the process. Getting several lvl 4 powders is very common when I did Corkus loot runs. Do you understand how OP loot runs are compared to grinding!? Why hasn't this been addressed is beyond me. The main aspect of an RPG game totally neglected. When done right, grinding isn't a task. It's something you enjoy doing because it's fulfilling. Nothing beats getting rewarded because you were dedicated. Currently, it's "hey, you opened a chest, what an effort, here, have a strati". Com' on, that's just taking the piss.

Indeed. Being lvl 100 isn't anything special. Heck, even 101 isn't anymore. Having a high level should present something. It's should show you are dedicated and skilled. Having 75 before meant more than having 101 does now because there were way less quests. Nobody liked it because, once again, grinding wasn't rewarding, it was just a task. In other games, I could easily grind for a week an not gain a single level. Here, in a week you can go from 0-101 and not even playing the full day. No one can look me in the eyes and say that's how leveling is supposed to work.

And then we have people who are bored of the game after a week. Of course they are bored, the game isn't rewarding. There is no incentive to grind, to breed horses, to level up different classes. Changing gear is too restrictive, game mechanics that are too limited, some don't even exist while they should, too big of an emphasis on potions and RNG, game abusing and cheating being more rewarding than actually being dedicated, surplus of items of the same level with minimal differences, no endgame content, poor collectibles, build breaking nerfs, crafting doesn't exist. Game has such a huge potential to grow into something amazing if just certain aspects were changed, primarily grinding, but instead of that, it has been ignored for years. Wake up, it's time you start rewarding dedication and not luck. The gameplay is in such a poor condition it's not even funny more, it's saddening, frustrating and disappointing.

Yes, but there are Boss Altars, which are the only ways to get certain equippment, which is good because it is no more (that much) rng bases but skill(ish).

Yea, fair point, I was just thinking about them and how they are exactly what Wynn needs. Wynn needs more "boss altar" approach.
