As I was playing World of Warcraft I came to the sudden realisation that this city in WoW might have inspired Grion to create the lore for Fruma, since they are so similar, and this thread exists to prove it.

    Sonick, what is a Suramar?

Suramar is an elven city that exists in World of Warcraft.

10.000 years ago a legion of demons invaded the planet of Azeroth seeking to conquer it. Fearing that their defenses could not hold the attacks, the monarchy of Suramar decided to conjure a powerful magic shield around half of the city, in an attempt to protect it.

It worked, but with no access to the outside world, its inhabitants had no way to feed themselves. So, they started drawing energy from the Nightwell, a well that drew mana from the very core of the planet. That energy was more than enough to feed them all, but it changed them. They became addicted to mana, and without it they started to wither away and die.

The races of Azeroth eventually won the war against the demons, but now, after 10.000 years they are returning, stronger than ever. The monarchs of Suramar decided that the best plan would be to surrender the city to the demons, fearing that the shield could not contain them this time, and so the gates of the city were open for the first time since the war.

As the monarchs planned their surrender, a group of rebels tried to overthrow the queen of the city, but they failed. Most of the rebels were killed, and those who managed to flee are now known as the Nightfallen, because they "fell from the grace of the Nightwell".

The monarchy of Suramar, led by the Grand Magistrix Elisande, who is like the queen of the city, controls the energy pulled by the Nightwell and uses it to keep the citizens in line. The citizens have little to no magic powers, and every bit of mana is given to them by the nobles, so if they even think about rebelling they will die, either executed or withered, and the monarchs are viewed as deities.
    The similarities.

This bit of text was taken from the Llevigar Library:

"The Fruma province is the homeland of Humans. Its history is deep and complex. Their borders have been closed until only recently.

Historians from Gavel have been sent there to research the mysterious land but were turned away.

All that is known is that the land is operated entirely by a powerful monarchy with magical powers that are far in advance of our own.

It is believed they withhold magical education from the general public so that the monarchy can be depicted as gods to their subjects."

And the guard at the Fruma Gate says this to you, proving that Fruma is controlled by, or at least has a Queen.

So these are the similarities between Suramar and Fruma:

    - Both Suramar and Fruma have powerful magic wielding monarchs.
    - Both Suramar and Fruma have a queen.
    - Both Suramar and Fruma were isolated from the outside world until they opened their gates.
    - Both of them were hiding from a large threat that would likely destroy them.
    - Both of them have opressed citizens who wield little to no magic.
    - Both of them had a group of rebels fighting the monarchy (Corkus and the Nightfallen)
    - Both were part of an empire. Suramar was part of the night elf empire, and judging by the Imperial Guards, we can assume that Fruma is part of the human empire.

So what do you guys think? Is it just a coincidence or is it confirmed that Grian likes WoW lore?

Thanks for reading this wall of text <3.

I mean, I remember a long time ago, Salted said that he took inspiration from Runescape, so seeing stuff inspired from WoW isn't much of a surprise.
