Discussion in 'Your Work' started by Quint, Aug 17, 2017.

?

What could I do to improve my chances of getting on the team?

  1. Send more builds to show more variability in builds

    16.7%
  2. Builds arent good enough

    100.0%
  3. Change style to something more suitable

    16.7%
  4. I think these are great builds, it's probably just a matter of how you Wrote your application

Alright, so i've applied for the build team 3 separate times over the past few months, and i very much want to get to at least a trial. But every time i have been denied, and i don't know why, i think my builds are good, but it may just be a bias. I'll include all the screenshots i've provided for my application(s), and i just want to ask how i could improve my building, if it's good and merely the wrong style, or whatever else it may be. Or it may be that i simply didn't write it well and clear. Either way, if just a few people see this, please, just take a little time to say what i could improve. It would really mean the world to me. Thank you for your time.

It may be because it's too flat. Add enough depth to make it look like it has layers just like ogres but don't overdetail.

There also is little to know variation in your detailing... you are making these large structures all using the same bland colours. Try also to add more curves and less vine like block patterns.

Also despite your terrain, you're builds are on very flat surfaces. I suggest building on a default world and building into the terrain. Don't just flatten areas with world edit or world generation.

It seems like you are using too many straight lines and flat surfaces, this makes structures boring (take a look at the inside of the ragni castle, there are three layers of blocks over the actual wall)

more details and even more layers, this build is very big, so it needs mabye 3 or 4 layers of different blocks on it with different patterns

use voxel to make more realistic terrain. Spike mountains do not work.

Add more shapes to the houses, not just boxes.

build ONTO terrain, not on a flat piece of land.

Instead of a flat cylinder, give the tower more shape.

Also, just keep building and take some design principles from other talented builders.
