(I haven't been following Wynncon threads, so hopefully no one has already made a thread about this, or it has been announced/concluded somewhere else.)

I've been playing Wynncraft for a couple of years now, and one of the things that defines it so much for me is the music. The noteblock sequences provide really catchy tunes, but the most impressive thing about them is some songs have fully orchestrated versions that sound amazing. If there was one feature I want to be added to Wynncraft above all else, it would be these glorified soundtracks.

It seems I'm not the only one who thinks this too, because I have searched and found many threads that ask why Wynncraft doesn't incorporate the orchestrated soundtracks, even though many of them do exist. One of the many is this thread: https://forums.wynncraft.com/threads/musical-features.155032/, which I chose to examine because it lists clear reasons why and it was one of the top results (so yeah). Correct me if I'm wrong, but the main thing stopping such support (from what I've gathered from this thread and others) is that the server can't handle the large sound files and can't stop the tracks when moving from different areas.

My hopes for realistic music stopped at this conclusion many months to years ago, but I recently had the luxury of attending the (currently ongoing) event, Wynncon 2017. It had new custom noteblock tracks, which was very nice. However, unlike on the actual server, Wynncon's music was (presumably) not based on being on the actual server, but on a website dedicated to Wynncraft, like the Map.

As the website's URL is only accessible by going on Wynncon, I hope I'm allowed to show this. Go to Wynncon to see for yourself. [IMG] *EDIT* I couldn't get the imgur links to work so yeah.

As a disclaimer, I had absolutely no part in doing anything related to this website besides accessing it and I have no idea how it works. I could only find its characteristics by going on Wynncon and experimenting (walking around) myself, and looking on the MCJukebox official site (which is what is being used).

From what I gather, MCJukebox allows custom music and sounds to play based on server input, and can be specific to players or groups of players. The music stops when leaving the designated area, and restarts when entering again, similar to actual Wynncraft music. Because it is a separate website and plays music as whole tracks instead of gathering each and every note as input, it also is *probably* not affected by server lag and *probably* can support non-noteblock based songs.

Again, I have no idea, but if my conclusions are right then MCJukebox could replace the older system to integrate orchestrated songs, or at the very least keep music flowing even during laggy sessions. I have never seen MCJukebox used with Wynncraft before, so having it now in a community event out of all things seems odd. Could the content team be experimenting, or is it just easier in the short run to use MCJukebox over full music integration? If it is the former, I am thoroughly excited at what this website could bring for Wynncraft. If it is the latter, then I just probably wasted 5 minutes of your life.

Anyways, I would like to hear other people's thoughts and any information to see if it is possible or not, even if it just means implementing only the orchestrated songs that currently exist (which has gone up over the years besides the original 13 or so thanks to people like XavierEXE) and keeping everything else the same.

I don't really get what this has to do with wynncon, you could play soundfiles via texture pack for the last couple of years

It is possible, but imagine the enormous amount of work needed to make this. The reason why they don't add the music into the resourcepack is because the file would be too large. A lot of players have issues with resource pack related content in servers in general, so that wouldn't help.

However, it would be possible to do something like that if Mojang ever fixes the server RPs crashes, and do something like on Realms (they already have the code for it)

And still if mojang adds proper rp support on servers, there's still a massive amount of work needed to change the OST

The thing you can hope for right now is if they'll use the 1.12 noteblocks sounds and change them, but even still we have to wait for 1.12

If they added orchestrated ost and wynnsound ost it'd just be inconsistent
