Advent Of Ascension.

Discussion in 'Minecraft' started by Cruuk, Jul 19, 2017.

?

Should I make a damn cult based around this mod? That seems to be the hip new thing these days.

Having more wiki editors is nice, and I like what you're doing and all, but please don't do stuff like this.

I already deleted that stuff because the wiki isn't supposed to be a fun little player's guide.

Anyways, yes, hello, I'm TheGreatCrackerz/yoshi3217 by the way.

Oh don't worry, AoA is not an unbalanced mess like the old versions of DRPG were.

Well, like a Butterfinger - no one's gonna lay a hand on all the work I've done with Dustopia so far. :)

    Alrighty, new topic:

In terms of lore/feats, Wynncraft VS AoA, who wins?

Or if you want to be specific, Wynncraft Player with a Mythic Rainbow Tank build VS An AoA Player with endgame weapons from the mod.

Don't use the difference in HP as an argument, because the 2 things have such different measurements of HP that it would be unfair to compare the 2, I'm talking a "battle" based on feats/lore here.

I don't see how that has to do with much else in this thread, I've never been one to engage in wacky humor, it's not my taste.

I was excited about this mod, but once I got some time into it, I realized the worlds were just reskins. Almost nothing besides sprites was different, so it got repetitive pretty soon. On top of that, it was filled with bugs and glitches, like bosses not spawning, which was frustrating, and ridiculously overpowered mobs, like that little fucker who is invisible and snipes you from a far.

That was quite some time ago, when it just came out, not sure how much it changed since then, but I didn't like it and just ended up being frustrated.

How long ago was this? If this was somewhere around 2013-mid 2014 then you probably played Divine RPG instead. This is a completely different mod which acts as a successor of sorts to DRPG, and is much more balanced.

Even then, DRPG is still alive today, under a new development team, and that has gone through heavy balance changes (mobs that had 400 HP now have 35 HP or something, etc.)

And as for a few dimensions in this mod having similar-ish generation to the overworld, the dimensions feel so different from each other in terms of mobs/content, I think it's fine. Unlike old DRPG, they're not just carbon copies of each other.

Oh no, it wasn't Divine. The mod I played was definitely AoA. FTB created a whole modpack around it.

Just checked my FTB forum thread, and I played the mod in June of 2015.

Well, apologies about your less-than-fun experience with the mod, I believe you were playing in the 2.3~ version at the time.

Even then, this really only applies to Abyss, Precasia, Gardencia, Candyland, and Creeponia, (maybe Greckon too), and again, the dimensions still feel very different in terms of mobs/content. Any dimensions I didn't name have generation that isn't similar to the overworld at all, especially certain ones like Ethereus, Immortallis, Labricon, and Lelyetia.

Are you referring to Shroomus? Because that was an issue exclusive to FTB Departed, not the mod itself. I don't recall any bugs with the bosses not spawning.

The first mobs you run into in the Overworld like the Charger, Cyclops, etc, are hardly a challenge at all, if you're referring to the Full Moon mobs, those are sort of meant to be a challenge and should be avoided until you get Iron Armor or better. Unless you're playing on hard mods, most normal mobs don't 1-hit kill you, they tend to do 2-4 hearts without wearing armor for the most part.

And, I don't recall any small mob who in invisible and snipes from afar, was this in the Overworld? Maybe you're talking about this thing, even then, those can be taken down easily with any bow. You shouldn't just run straight into ranged mobs unless you know what you're doing, as there are nearly thousands of different ranged weapons to counter them with.

I don't mean this as offense, but I feel like you haven't played enough of this mod to get a proper grasp of it, I can understand the frustration, but still.

If you're curious, the latest version is 2.4.B, read the OP for more info.

Could be, I don't recall correctly.

I had no problem with overworld mobs. I believe the last world I visited was either very dark, red, or both. Inside it was this mob I never managed to locate, but it was able to damage me from a far.

It's cool, I know what you mean and I agree to an extent. I believe I put around 40 hours into it, which was enough for me to conclude whether I want to continue to play it or not. Sadly, the bugs ruined it for me, but thanks to your post, now I realize it may have been the packs fault, and not the mod itself.

To be fair, RPG aspects with base building and trophies was really fun, until I fell trough the world and lost everything while trying to teleport.

Kinda want to play it again, tho unsure if I should use it as a standalone mod or play the pack again.
