You realize this can be applied to practically every serious topic ever, from politics to philosophical concepts, right ?
Why extend this olive branch to religion if we are willing to discuss shit like morality and ethics ? I think the most sensitive flowers can ignore this thread if they don't want their views challenged, be it religion, politics, or ethics.

    No I don't think so.
I view religion as something different than other topics, yes it can be debated about, but it is something that people can take personally very easily if they've lived their entire life with religion.
Even with two people debating about it personal insults started to be thrown about. If another topic ends up like that I'd want it to stop at well.

Politics can get crazy, yes but they're not the foundation to how someone might live.

Politics are nothing more than the application of your value system, which is the thing you live by almost every day; If you critique somebody's politics and opinions, you critique (or attack in some sense) their value system.

For exemple, the abortion debate depends almost entirely on what you value more : freedom of the mother or the life of the child; depending on somebody's answers, you can almost say if they value life or not, and how they see other people.
    Same with immigration as well.

Religion is more complex in the sense that it attaches hope and security in the picture (and so does politics, to an extent)

But I don't see a good argument that can be made in favour of not discussing religion, as I said, the precious sensitive flowers can let the big bois discuss it with reasons. If insults are thrown, then people will be punished for it, but banishing just the act of discussion just because "it might start a fire" is senseless to me.

Theoretically speaking, what is there to debate about religions?

I wasn't trying to get a full on debate about religion, but seeing some people feeling restrained because it might cause them to talk about religion for a bit is annoying me.
Their points might be valid but they can't because "muh religion"

Let's just draw the line at religion is ok if you aren't an idiot about it and leave it there

I think there's an interesting discussion to be had about ideological labels. The thing is, these labels are all too often taken to mean something else by opponents of the ideology, and adopted by extremists to make themselves seem more plausible, which leads to the whole idea being very blurred and misunderstood.

A great example of this is feminism. Originally, it meant trying to achieve equality for women in a highly sexist society. However, as equality of the sexes has become closer and closer to reality, it has been adopted by far-left ideologies, the so-called Social Justice Warrior movement, and is now taken by a lot of people to mean a view that is sexist against men. This brings a large dilemma for people like me who rather like the original idea. Do I call myself a feminist, and risk being seen as an SJW and misinterpreted that way? However, if I don't, I could be seen as opposing feminism and its original, egalitarian stance. Do we attempt to salvage the word and continue to use it to mean equality, create a new word that could be seen as opposition to the original idea, or try to explain ourselves without labels?

It's not a simple issue, and often such labels are a burden even if we choose to avoid them. This is why I take issue at people trying to force labels on people, in a sort of 'if you're not X you're Y' reasoning (eg. If you're not a feminist, you're sexist). You can't win, and the discussion always turns to the meaning of the labels rather than the actual views of the people involved. It's not just feminism thats affected here. Basically every ideological label is affected. Liberalism, conservatism, socialism, patriotism, nationalism, are all affected by this sort of distortion. It's certainly an interesting topic, with no clear answer, and relatively unlikely to start a flame war.

Well I think that with time words change their original meaning. Therfore we have to adapt and create new words that can describe us.
So instead of usin word feminist, we should be calling ourselves egalitarian.
