Elemental Penetration And Armor Powder's

Hello Guy's!
I got 2 Questions.

Question One:

How does the "Elemental Penetration" work ? Because i know some Weapons like Nirvana Can do damage to example:Quira even she got all that high elemental defenses.

How does that work? Because i am using an air build with Weathered and I do like no damage to her...


And the second Question:

I know that all the Different Powder's got their own special effects and abilities, But what are the best Powder's for Armor or is it better to just Put air Powder's on the Armor when you are using an Air build?

Because as i said i got an Weathered with an AirBuild and I want to Put some Powder's on the Armor Pieces, But wich ?

there is no "elemental penetration" id or something, but I think if your base damage is higher than the enemy's elemental defense, you are going to damage him

 

why couldn't you have just put "piercing" instead of "penetration" ;-;

 

Armor specials only affect the element that corresponds with the powder, so endurance only affects fire dmg.

 

Well, in theory you could damage with both. Armour is not a percentage, so Qira doesn't have like 99% defence or something,it's a set, raw number. The concept of defence penetration is the fact that if your bases damage OR the damage you deal with a spell is higher than the amount of elemental defence, the following will apply [damage - element def]. This can sometimes put faster weapons, like weathered, at a disadvantage because they trade lots of damage for speed. This is also why people often use defence penetration as an argument with earth builds, is that 1k really going to matter if you already do 14k with your alka build?

 

Element Defense's effect on damage was done incorrectly, it basically subtracts from base damage before factoring in attack speed, meaning that high base damage slower weapons are able to easily penetrate damage, while faster attack speed weapons struggle immensely. Your weathered is a much faster weapon, meaning that its base damage is lower to compensate, so it finds it significantly harder to penetrate element defense.

Okey thank you Very much for that answer even tho i dont unterstand everything in Detail i Overall unterstand the Text, so even tho nirvana does like around the Same damage as my Weathered ,because its normal attack speed it can penetrate through? Hope i understood that correct.

Okey yea i unterstand that But still one thing that i dont really get till now like , i saw someone do like 8k-11k water Spins i do the Same or even more sometimes with my Spin spells and still cant damage Quira

And just to make it clear this is like the thing i was wondering because like even with my Very fast attack speed i do a "good" amount of damage not as much as an earth alka build But still not Bad an other can do like the Same damage But kill Quira, thats why i was wondering

 

Ids and spell damage are irrelevant. Look at your weapons damage. Suppose you had
1-400 super fast
1-600 super slow
Fast seems better right?
Well in an enemy with 500 defence
0-0 super fast
0-100 super slow

Yea basically it does around the same dps, but Weathered gets more of its damage from attack speed than base damage. When Element Defense is fixed to account for attack speed differences, you'll find it a whole lot easier to cut through element defense.
