Can Holding A Weapon With Negative Skill Point Ids Cause Your Armor To Pop Off?

The reason that I ask is because I googled "slider build" and I see people recommending armor with dexterity requirements like soul signal and dark channeler and the boreal chestplate. Do people who use this kind of build just put enough SP into dexterity so that even when they hold the slider they still meet their armor's SP requirements? Or is it that negative skill point IDs on weapons aren't taken into account when the game checks to make sure you have enough SP for your armor?
