can we use dungeon items and other non master hive items?

 

Sure

 

preference to element and play style? (melee, spell, tank, spellspam, etc)

 

doesnt matter anything thats really good

 

uhhhhhhhhhh but anything can be really good...

just going to list a bunch of options here then we can go from there
so for spell id go for water infused hive wand all t4+ powders (probably t6 t6 t4 t4 t4)
for the helm quartzite helm is the most tanky that i can think of that is spell damage (cause no anima) as its got 4 powder slots for extra defense, another idea is just the simple stardust as it would act as the main defense for the build. yet another idea is nii helm for 40% in every element and 1/4 mana regen same goes for spectrum expect its damage over defense. if you are ok with more glassy helm then something like whitecap or third eye would work really well
For chestplate if you chose the nii helm then also go nii plate for 15% spell buff and 3/4 mana. a few other options i can think of are; Stillwater, ornamental plate ,aquarius, libra or sorrow. all of these give high damage and/or mana regen
for leggings there is dark channeler, trench scourer, vaward (tank), siliquartz, marsh waders,water san, elderoak or seipondon (wow long list) now these come to preference and what you chose for other armors as none of these are really core parts to the build
Boots its really memento, riverflow or capricorn for damage or silt of seafloor for tank (if you want neutral spell damage over water then maybe full nii set?)
Rings are easy, for mana regen myrrh or raindrop as moonpool's -thunder is not good for this build, if you want damage then hydro rings and if you want tank then prisms
Bracelet and necklace its basically just diamond hydro/fusion, or the bracelet from corrupted underworld crypt
So if you got any of these items we can use them and also preferences to water/neutral and all the stuff like that to narrow down the build
