    I would explain all of it rn but i am on my phone and kinda busy so no thanks but... why dont you just like... watch a "how to install a mod" or somethibg tutorial? .-.

    u need a mod, (xaeros minimap for example) who requires a modloader (Forge is the most common)
    so: install forge for your current minecraft version, download the right mod u want use and put it in the mod folder
    and magically you have a minimap <3
